NO power to fuel pump.

Hi all, I changed a fuel pump on a friends chevy pick up and there doesn't appear to be power. When I power the key on I am missing that fuel pump sound and the truck turns over but no gas coming out of injectors. Could this be electrical? and if so any help on a solution would be greatly appreciated.
One more thing that may or may not contribute to this. It appears that there may also be a short in her tail light circuit as they don't work(frying fuses).

Is the pump new, if so it maybe faulty. A freind of mine had replaced his fuel pump three times before one finally worked properly. Make sure you do not have it fooked up wrong. As for the tail lights it sounds like there is a wire grounding out some place. Trace back and ispect the wiring.

Is it getting fire? Pull the pump out and check it with a meter. Also, you may check the relay. If it has no fire probably ignition switch. Check all the grounds on vehicle as well.

What year is the truck? Did you check the pump fuse on the firewall by the pump relay? For short location look at the left front inner wheelwell where the rear wiring loom is attached to the frame-my 88 had a short there where the loom was rubbing against the edge of the wheelwell.

I had this same problem and I found out that the problem was in the relay circuit. Try checking the continuity of the ground at the relay when you are starting it. In my case the ground would work when I wasn't starting the car, but when I cranked I would lose ground.

There also is a fuse for the injectors in the fusebox which could be blown.

My '90 C1500 died one day, and would turn over, but no fuel to the injectors. I also found no fire at coil. Replaced coil, no fuel still. Replaced electronic module, and everything worked. I later found out that the module controls the fuel pump circuit.
