i have a friend with a 95 neon and the tranny all of a sudden decided it wasn't go to go anywhere. When you put it in drive it catches the gear very little you have to floor it literally for it to start to go, but the reverse gear works perfectly fine. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

A few things to check would be the throttle linkage, fluid level, and the kickdown band may need to be adjusted.

how would i adjust the kickdown band because the throttle linkage and fluid level are fine.

Do you know what type of fluid is in the tranny and is it an ATX or MTX?

See how that goes, before going any further.

try putting it in manual low and take off. If it takes off much better than in drive low, than you have a bad overrunning clutch, which means, tranny rebuild. I would also suggest getting your pressures looked at, sounds like the rear clutch, which engages in all forward gears is starting to slip.

You can get a used tranny for around $300. That is much cheaper than you pay for a rebuild.
