Is it the 7 or 8 to the States

I have read several comments and posts and almost everything in between on the arrival of the Lancer Evo. What is the latest on the version, and what is the time frame besides 4th qtr this year? I am wondering if these rumors are made to create nonsense talk.

The evo VII is the model that will be out in late December of 2002 or Early January in 2003.

I would like to see proof if ya don't mind... I have seen where it was posted that the states would be getting the 8 version in late spring 2003, that making it a MY 04

The Lancer EVO VII will be here (West Virginia) in October. I've already put a $500 Deposit on one :flipa:

Evidentally you guys are all new to the forum. Well if you would do your research, and read every post on this board, go back about 4 months ago even 5. You'll see that at that time when the premiers of the EVO VII were at auto shows acrossed the country along with magazine articles and links, etc.
Do yourt homework before you question authority boy!

Oh and yes, $500.00 now should be enough, really it is what you work out with your dealer.

I am not saying that we wont get the eight as soon as late spring 2003.
But the EVO VII will be here in December of 2002 and or Jan. 2003.

Get that Subi pic of your car off of here.

i have read all kinds of things and if you look at when i registered you know that i have not posted becoz of...well... rumors and bashing on who is right or wrong...............see it has not changed and people still think they know it all. i was only looking for more proof of arrival and all that other good information.

muahahaha right on Idelaysionl. we all know that any and every subaru from 95 or so up will decimate the OZ rally ed, and any other NON EVO lancer hands down, in every type of competition. Scooby owners unite! :D

I've driven mitsu since the beginning. So what if the OZ is the little brother to the EVO. Big deal. I could have bought the WRX back when I got my OZ, but then I would be like you guys...TRADERS. I dont go buy what is fastest at the time. If you guys wanna support Subi, go right ahead, its a free country, but don't come on the LANCER/EVO forum talking trash about the cars and drivers on this forum. This forum was designed for talking about the EVO/Lancers. ALL of THEM. Not just the Evo. So why dont you guys who love subi so much, go get on your own forum. Then you can talk all the trash you want about how everyone elses car sucks, but yours. No matter make or HP, they all just suck, except what YOU drive. Cause guess what, when the EVO comes out, you know your gonna switch. Trader's...get a back bone. Don't drive a car just because it's so popular. That is why you guys bought your subi's.

brand loyalty? thats dumb, subaru is a good manufacturer but im not gonna drive an inferior car just to support them. if someone offered me a ferrari 360, id take the ferrari in a second, if that makes me disloyal then so be it. u cant tell me if somebody offered u the keys to a skyline gtr or a new nsx youd rather keep your OZ just to be loyal.

we didnt come in here talking trash, we came in here cuz we like the evo, and u started talking trash about subarus. i think i speak for all of us when i say we dont think our cars are better than everyone else's, we never said that. want me to name a car i think is superior to my car? audi rs4 avant, acura nsx, skyline gtr and gts, any c5 vette, especially the z06, just about every ferrari ever made, and yes, the lancer evo. i could go on and on. want me to name a new car that cost the same or less that i think is superior? i cant, thats why i bought it.

u say we drive our cars because theyre popular? the only subaru that could be considered popular is the wrx, and none of us have those. if we bought our cars because they were popular, dont u think we woulda got a civic or something like that?

But if you would have said avoid the pic in the future then your actions would have justification, but you took it a step furthur and bashed subarus. Hmm, sounds to me like you shouldn't be bashing a subaru if this is a lancer forum. Isn't that the point you were trying to make, to stick to one's forum? Thought so...

On a related note, we're getting the 7, it's in magazines and was shown at car shows so unless they plan to change everything (highly unlikely) i'm pretty sure we're getting the 7. I beleive the 8 rumour started when people heard the 8 was coming out in Japan when the 7 came out here and combined commen sense with a little hope but on paper and everywhere i've read its 7. But i don't think people should be disapointed, it seems to be an excellant car.

hey if u guys planning to buy a evo7, i think u all should hold on for a while.... although i'm not sure wheather the evo 7.5 is coming out in usa... but in singapore, the evo 7.5 is about to release in 3rd quater 2002.... it comes with an all new 6th gear gear box....

Remember you opened your cake hole first when you started bashing on the post made azzmunch, i am not understanding you when you say we drive a popular car. There are far more lancer OZs than 2.5s. well its the car i hope to build after i get my degree, although ill be going for the coupe. it was 5 years in the making and engineering, and it costs about $15,000 but its worth it: you can get an IRS, and it comes with all but a few parts but those parts you can get off a SINGLE donor mustang or you can order all preformance parts for a mustang and use those. when you get done you'll have a car that preforms better than a ferrari for $30,000-40,000 usually depending on if you go "all out" or not. But what i plan to do is build one, sell it (they go "turn-key" for about $80,000 on ebay!!) and use that money and the experiance to build my second one even better and to keep. it will be a nice experiance in building and ill have an awesome car afterwards i cant wait. heres the link: www.factoryfive.com

but i plan to drop a 528 hemi with a huge fuel injection stack on it :devil: i think ill have to modify the hood though to fit it in there. its gonna be fun :)

Ok, check it out. The Evo 7 will be coming Jan 2003 maybe a litlle bit earlier. The Evo 8 will be coming out in the beginning of 2004. It is a two door version. That is why the name changes. If you go to www.body-kit.com they are designing a new aftermarket kit for the Evo 8. The are Sri Lanka based company that designs body kits for rally teams. The Evo 8 should be releasing everywhere where evo's are sold.

i might consider buying it now. don't get me wrong i like wrx's and lancer's but i can't stand the 4-door thing, it makes it look to family-ish. i'd still buy them but 2 door is MUCH more appealing. anyone have a solid source on the 2door thing?

Guys, the lancer Evo VII is not going to be released in the US. Instead, the Lancer Evolution VIII will be released in spring of 2003. They cannot bring over the Evo VII due to 5 MPH bumper standards.The intercooler could not be placed in the front of the car as on the EVO VII. The EVO VIII will offer an intercooler placed so it wil meet 5 MPH standards. The Evo VIII looks pretty good with the wider fenders and new style wing. It will be higher priced at first due to the fact that it will be really popular. And, also, I thought that you can't put a down payment on a car that is not even coming to the States. If any of you guys can give me proof (like a mitsubishi notice or newsletter) showing the release date, I will not only be convinced, but I will probably getting that car. I will folow up with links to the EVO VIII release dates in a little while.

As I have said b4 and want more conformation on this 7 or 8 arrival, I see that the crash test quams and fmic tend to not halt the 7 and bringing the 8 to the states seems more reasonable. I really like and have been considering to "be a trader as said", I am after the ultimate AWD Force Fed Bad Ass Dirt Blazin' Rig out there without the sacrifice of total new engine mgmnt. So.... PaceGhost this is not a decision to trade off, but to better the odds against the current Subi flyin' around. I have had the 97 GST and it kicked but had limits and I tweaked it, and.......then killed it!. Then came the 2.5 redesign and now the WRX which the price is hiked up to make a ridiculous $450 plus note. Sell the car and bring your money to the table to be certain of delivery, because all dealers are after that!!!!!!
