Hey guys.
Sometimes when my girlfriend turns on the AC in her 95 CIVIC LX the RPMs go down to about 400 and the car gets quite sluggish. When this happens it seems to be both when the car is at stand still or when it is being driven. It has happened to me when ever I drive it so I know she isn't crazy.
What could it be?
When the car does not use the AC everything is fine.
I have a friend who also has a CIVIC but it's a 94 EX and it also happens to him.

Well they (rpms) should go down for a little bit, since the a/c is ran off the engine. But normally it's corrected after a few seconds. I have a weak engine, so when accelerating I always turn off the a/c beacuse the engine is like you said, very sluggish too. Sounds like your compressor might be siezing though if it's keeping the engine from running normally.

check your lines and make sure there is no blockage....also take the care and have them check the a/c unit itself.
