The VR4 is probably going to win. Even if he has a perfect reaction time and shifts flawlessly, the VR4 is still going to hold at least 120 horses on him. Good luck.

Lets see here:
240sx............................3000gt
Weight.............2730lb......................... ...3803lb
HP....................155 ...............................320
lb per pony.....17.lb per pony..............11.88 lb per pony
Take into consideration you have awd and you should get a much better launch and hold better traction than he can even if he launches perfectly, I would say you will smoke him off the line, he will start to edge up on you in second and then half through third you should be pulling away, and by 5th the "objects in mirror may be closer than they appear" is no longer a valid statement.....
I would make sure to let him see you do some jackass launches, you know a little tooo high on the rpms and to fast off the clutch, that way he gets the idea that youre a total newb and gets comfortable, you get him psyched thinking you know squat then burn him. If you dont, someone here should come repo your car and give it to the needy.

An old guy like that talkin smack after all those years of experience. either he has seen you shift and you suck or he has been sniffing too much race fuel.
If he wins you owe me 50 buck too.
BOOYAAH.

you will DEFINETLY win. i own a 95 3kgt SL. my girlfriend has an s13. she took me off the line because of the lightweight rwd factor .. but even my fwd 240hp pulled away and kept pulling after 35mph. when it comes to highway runs, i destroy that nissan. a vr4 will totally destroy that car. yea the weight is a factor .. but you have more than double that 240's hp.
word of advice ... dont staul and make yourself look like a fool at the drag strip :grinno:

Own that 240... there's not a real race there... he shouldn't stand a chance... unless he's got something under the hood he's not telling you a/b

^ word ^ :evillol:
Nah man, I wassnt doubting your driving, I just meant you would really have to suck to loose a race like this.
Its true that the driver makes a big difference in a race but thats when the parametters of performance are withing logical limits.
this guy challenging you like that defies all logic.....logically!

I'm sure he'd still win even if he missed a gear... maybe even two... hey man if you beat him the first time, race him again using just odd numbered gears :D

ya beat me to it. I was gonna say start in 2nd and then even if you miss hte 2nd - 3rd shift, you can probably still win. At the track I've bogged launches and then missed the 2-3 shift and still pulled out 14.3s stock.

A non-turbo 3kgt would be a better bet for the 240sx mabye even a SOHC.

there's not much competition between the local rice 240's here... and I got a SOHC... there's one guy that worked for the Mayflower here in Rocky Mount... and he pulled up to me at the light... he saw my neons and thought my car was all rice... he revved... I stayed at idle... when the light turned green I let him have it... by the time I shifted to 2nd gear and barked the tires.... he gave up...
