Bent

Hey all. This is my first post here. I don't know that any of you mind one way or the other, but it seemed like good taste to mention it.
I have a 1999 Ford Taurus. The rim on a front tire somehow became bent. I got it fixed, no sweat. I take that back. It was something of a hassle. The aluminum 99 model was really hard to track down. But I'm getting away from the point.
The mechanic told me I should keep the bent rim, that I could sell it since it was aluminum . Does this sound credible to anyone? If so, where exactly would I go to sell it? I understand there's no advertising here; that's not what I'm doing. Just looking for advice on how to go about this. And wondering if anyone knows how much I could potentially get, I guess. But that may be impossible to answer online.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

yes, you look for aluminum scrap dealers. I doubt you could get more than $5 in scrap for 1 rim though, maybe $10 though, it might be worth driving out there. Thats what the Hobos do with all the cans they're collecting (assuming you don't live in a state with deposit). Its also interesting to go to one just to see the massive amounts of metal junk that they have if you're into that sort of thing.

actully wheels are generally worth more when it comes to scraping them because of the alloy in them
