'91 Calais hard to start

When I turn on the key, the fuel pump just runs and runs. But, the car won't start soon. The best I've been able to do is hold the pedal down and try for 3 - 3 second cranks (until it makes some firing noise), and let the pedal up and start it as normal. If I spray starting fluid into the throttle body, it starts really soon. I'm thinking that the fuel is leaking down back into the tank.

Does anyone have a good idea of a fix?

Pull your spark plugs and make sure they arn't all corroded and covered in shit.

is it getting fuel ?is it getting spark?fuel filter ever been changed?..i have an 89 that starts but runns like its starving for fuel the guy i baught it from says it had this problem but its just now emerging to me im stuck
