Hi,im trying to find out more information on 3000gt's.which is my favorite car.im a junior and im looking into buying one.I want a 1994 or up vr4 but those prices can get kinda high for me and i want the 6 speed manual vr4.so i was wondering can you buy like a 93 vr4 which would be cheaper and down the road put a 6 speed in it to replace the 5 speed transmission?if you can would you have to do many modifications to the car to make it work?or would it be better to jst get a 94-99 vr4?

read the faq, it would be better if you get a 94 vr4, but at your age vr4 are no cheap stuff, their price are high in maintenance, insurance are alot, and gas too, unless you are richy rich, i got mine when i was like 18, n/a and i have been putting a lot of money to this car, but i love it!

^A 94 won't necessarily be better for him.... I mean I guess you're assuming b/c of the higher boost setting and 6 spd tranny that it is... you can just do the free boost mod to change the 93's boost level to that of the 94's. As for the tranny, well the 5spd is better than the 6spd if you're into drag racing because of the gearing *so I'm told*, but the 6spd may net you better fuel economy because of the last gear...

well man i just say look at the prices, unless of course, your richy rich. all i could afford was an SL but a month later a saw a vr4 for sale for the same price, so just wait for the perfect car, i'm guessing its your first car, good luck with that and dont fuck it up, peace.

Yeah i would recommend waiting before u purchase one. I have a non-turbo type and im 17. The insurance is out there trust me. So with the VR4 its even more costly. Im barely paying for the insurance and i cant even afford the gas. so i would wait and save up until u really have the money for it. I have had this car for a year and they are great cars just take ur time before buying one.

I agree with banshee. One more comment though. The VR4 has an assload of power. Assuming that you just got your license, I'd say that you should hold off on the turbos until you've been driving a little longer. Not only are they higher maintenence than most cars, but the 3KGT's are kind of prone to having various mechanical problems. Since you're young(as am I), you'll probably want to abuse the car as much as you can. Not that that is necessarily such a bad thing, but awd+320hp+17 year old driver= bad. Just some friendly advice from someone your age. Good luck trying to find one though. If you're interested, I'm going to be selling mine for around $10,000. Black 1997 Base model w/some mods. Shoot me a pm if you're interested.
Good luck!

well im jst tryin to see wht some vr4 owners would say about the car.ive had my license for about 8 months now.i dont think it has to do with me not being ready to drive a vr4 i know it has alot of power and all,but i have driven a racing mini cooper s,a 430 hp ford lightning, and a mustang gt so i dont think it has anything to do with me not being ready
