it's just as good (if not better) then a civic, and the later models are probably somewhere around stock eclipses...
dont let them discourage you caus they all like japanese cars and you want a german one...

I test drove the new Civic yesterday and was not impressed. It just looks like everything else out there--too close to the Acura for me, and the interior, while sporty looking...it just seemed juvenile, somehow; like it was trying too hard to be cool or something.
I needed a new car before my 10 year old junker's transmission kicked out and had been looking at GTIs for awhile. I finally committed to the debt and got a 2005 GTI (1.8T) with a manual transmission--my first one--and it rocks. So cool. The turbo is fantastic, and I love how it handles. I really couldn't be happier; I cannot wait to show it off tomorrow!
you can always get the Audi TT chip put in there, boost it to around 250HP...put in a better air box...there seem to be a lot of options out there..
good luck!

dude, a GTI is an excellent car, with a few minor upgrades, you could take all of your friends. nothing like that german engineering. im getting one myself, but im still undecided between a 1.8T or a VR6, im leaning towards VR6, though

civics aren't even as close. period. and late models around stock eclipses? they're .3 faster in 0-60 and .4 faster in 1/4 according to C&D.

for you, a gti would not be the right kinda car. please dont buy one. if you're gonna buy it to do your gay "racing" thing... dont do that to my car. please stop.
and acuras are what, 160 hp? how much do they weigh? around 2000 lbs?
GTi's are 180 hp, 150 at the wheels, and they weigh 2,934 lbs (from vw website)
do the math, we're slower. and if anyone thinks im wrong... keep your mouth shut please. the last thing we need is another "racer" aiming to be in fast in the furious 8

what acura is 2000lbs? both the integra and rsx are higher then 2700lbs...
why should i keep my mouth shut if i KNOW you're wrong in your "math"?
of course getting any car for the purpose of driving insanely fast on the street. telling him to not get a GTI isnt going to get him to change his mind about the idea behind it.
it may save you a penny on insurance (by not having one more idiot crash his riced out GTI), but is that really want you want to convince him of?

haha now i know how much an integra weighs. thanks
nothing wrong with my math, just wrong data. i dont know how much every car out there weighs, but i know vdubs (and most other european cars) are deng heavy

unless it's build like a lotus elise or a honda crx, it's not gonna be 2000lbs.
i dont know how much cars weigh either, but it just doesnt make sense to think an integra could be as light as 1 ton. autos.msn.com is my source for a lot of basic information. gives info about engines, features, even curb weight. ;)
vdubs may be heavy, but the gti is STILL a small car, and it's not gonna be rediculously heaver then something else in it's class... atleast not enough to just negate 50hp without a second thought.
