Matrix madness??!

Hi all - desperately need advice!!

Just replaced a heater matrix on a 1995 Vauxhall Astra - no probs as such, just followed the manual - but now the darn thing won't start!!

The only "incident" was when we reconnected the battery and it set off the alarm which hasn't worked in years. I've now disconnected this as it was tempramental anyway, but the overall non-starting issue remains the same.

A nosy but unhelpful neighbour suggested that the immobiliser from the old alarm was still impacting, but my understanding was that if working it wouldn't allow it to turn over or fire, whereas it's turning over, firing and "chugging". (And its now been disconnected anyway.)

It was low on fuel as per usual reason for chugging, but it's been topped up - but still not starting!!!!

All advice gratefully accepted...Elen :o(
