'91 MR2 keeps poping out of 5th! help!

:uhoh: My '91 mr2 keeps poping out of 5th gear if im not accelerating, what does this mean? It goes in all gears fine and only pops out of 5th.

Possibly a bad synchro on the fifth gear.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe that the syncro's only help going into gear, and that if you know had to rev match, you don't even need syncros, my assumption would be that a bad syncro would only make it grind into gears, but not make it pop out.

its a known problem with toyota, 5th gear synchro is bad.

hmmm.... doubt it.
my box is apart ATM and is getting new synchro's from 1st to 4th. no wear on 5th and it never popped out.
i'd go with worn teeth or bearings.
