Hey guys, what is goin' on? I've been reading topics and learning from a lot of you here for a long time now, and decided it was time to join up. Some of you might know me from Scale Auto Mag, I've been there about 6 months or so. I've been modeling for about 3 years now, mostly into tuners and customs but I love a good super car or muscle car, do a bit of scratchbuilding, and just started resin casting today! More on that later...
I've got way way too much on the bench right now, so I thought I'd share my favorite builds so far. I finished the Eclispe about a year ago and the Civic about 3 months ago (Yeah, I am slow :grinno: )
The Eclipse was built box stock, MM Sublime Green with kit supplied decals. Interior is done with Testor's tan, gloss brown, and gold accents. Engine carried over the interior theme with tan, brown, gold, and some chrome. Fun build, but I think I might redo this one now that my paint skills have improved...

The Civic was dragged out over a looong time. Shot 5 coats of nassau Blue Metallic only to have the texture roughen like 400 grit sand paper. Sanding it produced a scratchy, silvery finish, so I was stumped and set it on the shelf. About 5 months later I thought what the heck and shot 4 coats of clear. The texture didn't smoothen out all the way, but it added something to the paint that I liked. Window rubbers were done with a brush, I gotta get some better masking tape! Interior is flat white and gray with silver accents. Then engine detailing was a bit of a joke as I had no concept of #65 drill bits, so I just glued the plug wires and vacuum lines inplace, with white glue non the less :disappoin But it came out all right in the end

Welcome to AF! Those are very, well executed. Very clean. Great job on the decals. I didn't really like the body kits in either of those kits. It just looks right on yours tho. heh..Keep up the great work!

Thanks again! On the note of the decals, baja, thanks, it took about half an hour, I was pretty nervous about maybe ripping them. But I mgiht buy another kit an redo this build just aas it is, but with smooth paint, and now that I've been introduced to MicroSol/Set I want to make the decals smoother (big air pockets at the side skirts and the front bumper). Plus I want to do a little engine detail, nothing big. I might change the rims....

That's some very nice work on two rather ordinary kits. You've made them pop to life and they look great! Welcome to AF and be sure to share whatever else you've got up your sleeve because I'm sure it's going to be great.

Good looking builds. If I may offer a bit of advice, leave the Eclipse alone! It looks fine as is. If you're ready to try it again, get another one- the kit is pretty inexpensive. You'll almost definately be happier with the results, and will learn more, by doing another kit. A 'rebuilt' or 'restored' model will almost never look as good as a new kit built with the same level of skill. Besides, it's nice to keep your earlier work intact, so that you can compare your present level of work to it- to see how far you're come. I wish I still had more of my early builds.

Right now I have an Eclipse in progress that has almost down to the wire detailing, complex paint pattern, many many detail pieces, and so much more. It's pretty much under the cover for now, I'm waiting to finish some subassemblies before showing it
