Weird electical/starter problems in '90 Cherokee

My problems started with a bad starter. The thing wouldn't turn over, then I rapped on the starter with a hammer and it would start. This happened occassionally for a couple of weeks, then one time after turning the key, everything died, including the radio, lights, etc. I let it sit for a few hours and then it started up again. I put a new starter in and the problem wasn't fixed. I put the key in the run position and the radio, etc. would turn on, as soon as I tried to start it, everything died. I replaced the ignition switch, now there is no power anywhere. I had the battery checked, replaced the negative cable, cleaned the pos. I am at a total loss. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is the nuetral saftey switch. It actually mounts to the outside of your tranny and is $$$$$.
The best way is to search jeepsunlimited.com for their fix of it.

Neutral switch OR the load reduction relay?

I have a suggestion. You put the ignition switch in wrong or broke something else in the process.

Go back under the dash and double check EVERYTHING. Make sure the connector is pushed on all the way. Make sure the switch was indexed properly when you put in the rod from the column.

Make sure no other connectors came apart while you were wrestling with everything under the dash.

If I sound harsh, I don't mean to be. Just been there done that myself.
