Engine Ran out of oil too fast!

I have 97 Mitsubishi with 140,00 miles on it. I have been getting regular oil changes every 3 months or 3000 miles. Today luckily I checked the oil gauge in my car and the engine was BONE DRY. The last time I got an oil change was a month and half ago and it been only around 2200 miles? I checked and there was no oil leak of any kind.

Why did the oil run out so fast? Whats going on? Any answers anyone.

check for oil in the cooling sytem, is it producing blue smoke, and check the plugs for coluor they should be a sandy coluor. if its burning it plugs will be black
