Well i drove my car to school a few times its about a 2 and half hour drive there and back everyday, i drove my car to skool two times, then on the second day the car wouldnt start at skool and the battery wasnt dead. eventually i got the car to start and i got home however after that the car wouldnt start again at all and just sat there turning over. i had just changed my egr selenoid and the egr valve before this happened like a day before the trouble. i got the car to start with a lil bit of ether but then as i stopped with the ether the car would just shut off. i figured it was either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. then i let the car sit for about two weeks before i got bak to screwing with it. then the car started up and was idling fine and as soon as i hit the gas it sputtered itself out. so i let it sit and the next day i went out and started it again and it started fine and i drove it not one lil problem at all....? and it hasnt had any problems starting for the past few days....? i just dont understand what the hell the problem is or was. any ideas of what happened.
sorry for the long boring story lol.

Wow, that IS weird. I can tell you what the pros do, they use a device called a "data logger" to record what the engine computer sees from the sensors and what adjustments it makes to fuel and spark timing. They play back this information from the time the car starts acting up and look for something that's not right - a strange change in sensor readings or a computer made adjustment that isn't normal. This gives clues as to where to start looking for the problem.
I'm sorry I can't give you advice as to where to start looking - your problem could be just about anywhere, and it could be many different things. A bad wire, a sensor going bad, an ignition module or coil starting to die, a failing fuel pump...
If you are lucky enough to have the check engine light come on and stay on, you could get some good clues from the trouble codes in the computer.

I'd look at ignition module and or other distributor issues. The module are heat sensitive and can and do cause intermittant starting and running issues. Go to Discount Auto/Auto Zone and they will test the module. However get an AC Delco replacement, or two off market ones as the off market ones don't last. Follow the directions for the install heat sink grease on the metal base. (Radio Shack has the heat sink grease.
