Hesitant acceleration

Something is up with the acceleration on my 99 grand prix. It seems to be very hesitant at times, yet it is not jittery or bumpy, just takes a while to kick in sometimes. The other day, going at 20mph, I tried giving it some more gas so I could get up to 50 mph, nothing was happening, so I floored it and finally a few seconds later, it caught up and took off. I'm not sure if this could be timing chain related or what, but it doesn't FEEL like it's a transmission thing as there is no roughness while this is happening. I've also noticed while going up hill, the car is hesitant to accelerate as well. Once again, no sputtering while this happens either.

I'd repace the fuel filter, then scan it for any issues. How old are the plugs and wires although your description says not.

I'm not too sure how old the plugs and wires are, but as far as fuel filters go, I believe it was just replaced a couple months ago when I had the entire car serviced for maintainance. I'll check the maintainance/repair records and get back to you.

Also, it would be helpful if you could list the engine you have in your Grand Prix and the mileage.

engine is a GM Series II 3800, also I should add, this is NOT the supercharged version. Has 110k miles on it.

After checking my records, I did not spot anything regarding a fuel filter replacement, so I suppose I should check that out or get it checked out.
