Hi everyone. Hopefully someone will be able to help me out. I have 1995 Honda Civic EX 2 dr with an automatic transmission. For about a year now I've been having some trouble getting the car into/out of PARK. When I'm parking I can get it into the gear with no problems, but have to wiggle the shifter a little bit/turn the wheel/hit the brake in order for the "P" in PARK to light up. When I start my car to get ready to take a drive, sometimes the "P" isn't lit up and I have to do the same thing.
In the Summer it hardly ever happened, and if it did it was barely noticeable. In the cold weather it is a major problem. Last year when this started I was stuck in a parking lot for 30 minutes or more trying to get the "P" light to come on so I could get out of there.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong? How much should it cost to fix? Thank you very much in advance!

sounds like your gear position switch is going bad. It usually acts up when it starts to get colder. Its mountded on the side of the shifter housing. The grease inside of it causes it to stop making contact. I would remove it and clean the grease out and clean the contacts. Put a little dialectric grease back on it and try again. Put the shifter in "n" and adjust the switch till the nuetral lights up on the dash.
