Thanks! I almost didn't believe it when I got to the last row of a bunch of UT models and saw 3 "Mclaren" end-flaps staring back at me - and then I was afraid they would turn out to be Formula One cars! Hard to believe that they've sat on that shelf all these years.

Where was this?
Little local hobby shop. Cleaned them out of Mclaren models. The shirt is from Autobrass and the book was a stroke of luck at a used book shop. I know of one other copy for sale but, so far, a language barrier is keeping me from obtaining it. Should have that cracked soon - a relative speaks the right language so Thanksgiving dinner will be interrupted by a request for translation help!!

Used book shop?.. :screwy: Some people just don't know the value of things. :grinno: But then again it's all relative eh? Good find Noddy!

THAT would be a cool shirt. The graphic looks huge. And finding a hobby shop that actually has some UT F1's is pretty rare. I've been dreaming of a shop like that, but still I don't believe I've ever even seen a 1:18 UT F1 of any kind in person.

I have recurring dream of walking into a hobby shop and finding a 1/12 F1 sitting there - perhaps all dusty and forgotten about... guess I shouldn't eat spicy food before bed...
As for the shirt it really doesn't show in the picture but the orange is actually fluorescent and pretty cool looking. It's the shirt I posted about a week or two ago from Autobrass. I actually thought that the shirt was grey - they used to have it in grey - but the one I received is white. Also got a pin of one of the Gulf cars from them but it is a let down: The roof antenna is as tall as the windshield, Bellm's name appears at the bottom as "BELLm" and the year appears as "196" :uhoh: Other than that it's a nice looking pin...

I'm surprised most of the top people here don't already have that shirt. Noddy: Mine is gray.
There is another even more rare shirt at least one that I haven't even seen on ebay or a store. A friend happened to get one at a BMW club event about 10 years ago. It had the GTR script in big bold letter across the chest in a diagonal. Will have to track him down and get a pic of it.
Simon Lewis keeps turning up little tidbits of McLaren memorabilia on ebay.

I would kind of prefer the grey but the fluorescent orange really stands out on the white shirt so I'm happy with it.
Simon Lewis is a good guy - I bought some LeMans posters from him years ago.
The Ebay seller who just got over $500 for the Michael Cotton GTR book has a couple of sets of McLaren driver's suits.

I discovered a 1/43rd scale Davidoff F1 GTR in a shop in Holland about 4-5 months back and paid about $30 for it!

Anyone got one of these books for sale?
What does it contain?
Is it only the GTR model, or the F1, LM, Road Car, or GT? (I know it says F1 GTR book, but are there shots of other in the background etc or shots of other F1's?) Also, when was this published, and is there any production rate, how many of each style were made?
What is the going rate for these, and I have seen more than one verison of it, how do they differ with contents?
Are they both German and English in the same book, or can you buy German, and seperate English ones?
A lot of questions, but seeing as everyone has gone quiet here, I thought i'd drag it up.
and no-one seems to mention whether they have got any new items to their collection/s? Is this because you haven't got any, or are just not sharing!!!

it was available with different covers. Mine is of the DPR West car. The book itself is in English and German and about 178(ish) pages.
Starts with an introduction on the F1 and specifically the GTR. The GTR introduction has quite a few pages with pictures unique to the book
The next section concentrates on the Teams and People involved.
Page 57 is where the race review starts, starting with the 24 Hrs with full story lots of detail and pictures you wont have seen else where. This carries on to Page 99 when the BPR review starts including the Chinese and Japnes rounds. Lots of photos again, but the review in the section is quite bitty and weak. This brings you to P167, which is where technical details and results are displayed. There are adverts for West, Gulf, Mach One, BMW and others interlaced as well.
One last thing...I remember someone wanting the GTR graphic with the laurel and 23 heures du Mans . Well thats at the start of the book, about 3 inches tall :)
Mine might be for sale....one day. Its signed by GM and RD...so its part of my retirement fund :)

IIRC I picked this up early in 96. It covers the 95 season only. AFAIK the 95 was the only book produced.

Thank you for your very helpful response. Although this only covers '95, I still want to have it as it sounds very interesting. Also, the fact that I was the one asking for the GTR Le Mans Winners logo as well kind of makes me want it even more!!!
What is the difference between the versions or front covers? (does anything inside differ from them? more pages maybe?)
Thanks!!!
Just thought i'd add this as a bonus! Just found it on google along with a ride of an F1 GTR

Does any one version of the book have a higher vale than another?
I mean if you have the west one, is it worth more than the blue gulf one?

I don't think they come up for sale often enough to make that determination. When they do, most sell for around $300 these days with the occasional one sneaking by for less money.
I've got to assume the only way one would be considered "worth more" is to someone who is trying to collect all three since the Harrods or Gulf copies which don't appear as frequently, or to someone that has a particular affinity to one of the cars on the cover. To me its really what's inside that counts.

Why would anyone collect multiple Minichamps 1/43rd or PMA 1/12th scale F1 road cars. It's the same car, just painted a different color, right? :iceslolan
I don't know - some people are overly obsessed (not necessarily a bad thing) and it wouldn't surprise me if more than one person has multiple copies of this book with the different covers. I'm not one of them btw.

i could understand the model cars in different colours, but this is a front cover of a book!!!
Also, one more thing,if you remove the soft cover, are all the hard backs the same cotton with the McLaren F1 GTR transferred onto it?
and when you open it for the first inside page, does it have the same image as the soft cover?
Do you have one in your collection? and could you share some pics of it?
Another thing, Noddy mentioned the "GTR 24 heures..." logo was in the first few pages at a large scale. could anyone scan this at the highest resolution possible and send it to me?
