Is my deck no good?

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP428 and did the setup after the install. I wrote the security code in my manual only to lose most of my possesions (including reciept) in a fire. I had to replace my battery last week and guess what I need my code. I called Kenwood and they told me to call best buy. Well they say they can't help because they don't keep records of cash or debit purchases.

Is there anyway to reset the code or should I bite the bullet and buy a new one?

i'm a new owner of a Kenwood (kdc-7028). I don't think i know the security funcions...yet. but, i know i've got a reset button that you can press with a pen point or something similar. sry if that's not it, man.:2cents:
