Differences between trim levels?

Looking for a new used car. Problem is I can't pay for the GS-R/Type-R models (insurance, initial price, premium gas, etc), but I still want all the sportiness I can get.
Obviously the engine is different between the RS/GS/LS and the GS-R/Type R...but do the lower trim models come with the same firm suspension of the GS-R/Type R (assuming they are the same, which I'm not sure)? Same five speed gearbox?
Also, are the RS, GS, and LS different, performance wise?
I'm going to look at a '97 LS, leather 5 speed, 81k, for 6500. Good deal?

No the suspension and transmissions are different from the type r and gsr (comparing them to the ls, gs, and rs). The LS, GS, RS all have longer gears than the other 2, but they'll help with gas mileage. The GS, LS, and RS all have the same engine and transmission; just different standard and optional feature for the cars. I'd think that $6500 is a little much, try to get them to lower the price a few hundred ($500 if you can).
