Emmison controls on a '79 - what's needed?

I've got a '79 L82 Automatic pure stock. After reviewing the shop manual, from what I can tell, it had at one time a ton of emission control items on it. It's unlikely I will ever be required to have the emissions checked because of where I live in northern Wisconsin. It appears that the A.I.R. pump and all the tubes were removed along with the EFE system including the heat riser damper and EGR system. It will take me some time to purchase and install these parts if I have to. I am wondering which, if any, of these parts are really necessary to keep the engine running smooth. Do I risk any kind of damage to the engine without these parts? Your thoughts and tips? Thanks....

I don't think any of the emission controls are needed on a non-computer car to keep it running smoothly. Probably the only thing I would leave on it is the egr valve. If you take it off you will probably have to retard the ignition to prevent a ping. I would definitely leave the air pump off if it doesn't get checked. If you have that off you might take the catylic converter off too because the exhaust gas will be too cool for it to operate properly.

Hey thanks... that is kinda what I found out myself in the last few days. I'll see if I can get an EGR valve becuase I think it might have a slight ping right now... Thanks again for the help.
