1973 Pontiac GTO. 400. Many new parts, all around good shape. Runs good, clutch needs to be replaced. $7000. Now I dont mind doing a little bit to it but then I will want it as a daily driver. Do you think this car could become a daily driver?

Yes it certainly can, but I'm not so sure on the price. By 73 the power was way down to 230 horsepower and an anemic 8:1 compression. Whereas a 68-70 GTO might command well over $20k, the later GTOs (which were actually back to just an option package on the LeMans by 1973) don't command quite the price the older ones do. Unless its a show-quality car, I'd stick to $2000-3000 tops.

But as far as being a good daily driver, absolutely. Reliable engine and tranny, and parts are still widely available. I think it would make a killer daily driver, and just enough off the beaten path to keep things interesting.

Besides being fun, using a car like this as a daily driver actually makes good financial sense. It will go up in value (or at least hold its value) as opposed to losing value like almost any other car will do. I've used muscle cars year round (yup, even in the snow and salt!) and always came out ok when selling. I agree that $7000 sounds a little high, (check old car price guides) but then again the market is crazy right now and still rising.
