89 le sabre fuel system problems

for some reason.....the car starts up but only stays on as long as i keep the foot pressed on the gas at least to a lil rev.....once i let off after a few seconds it turns off.....whats the prob?????

Fuel pump weak?? Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure guage!

thanks ima check that out.....one more thing.....after itstarts up and shuts off a few times...it doesnt wanna start up unless i let it sit for a hour or 2......is that cuz im flooding the lines cuz i keep pressing the gas trying to get it going? and when i shift gears it likes to shut off but i think thats cuz i am not pressing the gas when i am shifitng......just wondering if it can be anything else.....basically it stays on as long as i keep on the gas.
