the dim lights that brighten up when u give it the gas is the alternator test. but if u bought a new 1 i dont know what it could be

I've seen several new parts be bad. Have the alt tested. Starters and altenators are somewhat commonly bad when bran new. I went thrue 3 starters on a chevy before I got one that worked.

Sounds like the voltage regulator is bad. Im not sure, but your car might have an external regulator versus one built into the alternator. If its built in then you got a bad part. If its external try changing it, theyre not too expensive.

If you've replaced the alternator than your voltage regulator should be fine, its inside the alternator.
Sounds like the solinoid on your starter is going bad. There like that when they start going bad. Sometimes they will start and sometimes it won't. The only way to correct the problem is to replace the starter.

Sounds like a voltage drain too me. If the car starts right up with a jump.

Check for a bad ground. Either engine to chassis or more commonly, battery to block.

hey thanks guys, ya im pretty sure this alt. has a built in regulator, it is probably a voltage drain somewhere.. but i have so much shit in my car weather its my stereo or all my gauges i have a lot of bad grounds to check.. i will probably end up buying a new starter... anyone have any good suggestions of starters for me to get and prices, i noticed they vary depending on torque.. i have a few upgrades in my car new cam, cai, maf, headers, exhaust, ign., tb & egr so i dont kno wat kind of torque im playin with.....

You don't need big torque starter cause none of the things you have will effect it. You need big torque starters to turn either big cubic inches or high CR ratio motors you have niether.
