carbeurator problem on corolla

89 corolla dx dr sedan 1.6

i've put 2 fuel pumps from advance on this car i even went and brought another carbeurator from a buddy of mine off of a toyota that was running and i stll cannot get the carbeurator to spray gas on its own. i disconnected the fuel line from the carbeurator and fuel is being delivered but its not spraying in the bowl to keep the car running. i can pour gas into the carbeurator and it will run until the gas burns out. i've checked fuses i've pulled the computer but i don't think the ecm matters for fuel on this car since its not fuel injected. the car has been sitting up so maybe there's something thats clogged but would 2 carbs do the same thing? the second one sprayed gas one time after i mounted it and it would not spray anymore! any suggestions?????????
