So me and my step dad are out looking for a drag car. Come across a gta. Built 700r4 and work on the engine. Guy says its runs 12's. The car had been rolled. T-top car. Roof crushed in and passenger side a-pillar bent down. We were thinking just cut the roof off and bend up the a-pillar straight enough to put in some plexiglass. It would also need a new passenger fender and the front end fixed.. when the driver wheel is straight the passenger wheel is at like 15-20 degrees. Need some opinions.. Thanks guys

The problem with cars with t-tops is the issue of flex. Every 3rd gen with t-tops that I have driven has had major flex when stock, to brace it up enough to handle serious power you have to add braces and stuff, adding to the weight of an already heavy car. Plus, with a bent a-pillar the whole car is twisted and will be a real pain to get to run straight again.

where are you located? I'm in los angeles and I'm parting out an '84 T/a. I am giving the shell away for free. It was from phoenix, so it's rust free. It is a t-top body, but it also has subframe connectors welded in.
You could convert your parts over. It's much betterthan dealing with a wrecked body. because these cars are "uni body" their structure is in the body itself. if part of it is damaged or removed, the whole structure becomes weaker. thisis a bigger problem if your'e racing the car as you really need ot rely upon the strength of the car, which is weakend in your case.
If you want it, come pick it up
