Different sort of ABS question

I hate to even post on this since this board is already flooded with ABS TRAC questions. But I have been searching through past post and can't find anything reflecting on my problem.

I've got the ol ABS TRAC light going on, but it ONLY does it when I hit bumps. There is a set of railroad tracks on my way to work that set them off every day. I can drive for two hours on the interstate and not have them go off, but a good bump...on they go!

I just ran a scan and it shows several codes for the left rear speed sensor. One of them specifially said bad circuit. My question is....

Is this likely to be a wiring issue or do you all think it's time to buy another hub assembly?

Also, this hub was replaced about 2 years ago when a tow service strapped the wire and pulled it all out. I replaced the hub and repaired the wire when that happened. This makes me think that the wiring may be the problem.

Look the wiring over real close where you repaired it.
It may have got moisture in the spot you repaired.
Or hook a volt meter before and after the repaired wire and wiggle the wire and spin the wheel.

Sounds like a wiring problem, but abs sensor problems can come and go.

One thing you can do to the wheel sensor(s) is ohm it out with a multimeter and see if it's in a specified range of resistance. You undo the electrical connector and go across the 2 pins on the sensor/hub side.

Here are the specs:

Rear wheel sensor (1030 - 1180 ohms)

Front wheel sensor (1020 - 1137 ohms)

If outside of this range it's flaky. Also, maybe you can try to duplicate road conditions by using a rubber mallet and tap (not too hard) on the hub to see if it breaks continuity.
