Here is a website I came across in class today. I was bored and thought about looking up haunted places and stuff like that.

This website below is a list of states.
http://theshadowlands.net/places/index.html

This site below is the home page. Look around and read some of the stuff. If any of you have any comments or your own personal experiences. Post them. We won't think you're crazy.....maybe.

I am in Nebraska and in my town we have a regional center. I beleive in it. One night a friend and I went there late one night. Driving around it and outside was a dentists chair in front of an abbandoned apartment building. We weren't scared so we walked up to the building and looked in the front doors and noticed some lights that were on. We walk around to the side and there was that chair.

Neither of us had enough guts to sit in it. When we walked away the chair turned towards us and moved forward. I never ran so fast in my life!

Reading through some of those in my state....Nebraska....some of those made me think if they are true and I want find out if they are true.

Nebraska - Wayne - Wayne State College - Neihardt Hall - which is haunted by Cora, a young lady that killed herself in the basement. The Lay Theater that is haunted by a very mischievous ghost. The Willow Bowl which is said to be haunted by a young man that committed suicide there a few years ago. And a young girl who was playing in the tunnels when her ball rolled into a cubbyhole with bare electrical wires haunts the tunnels between the dorms. I've heard many friends tell me stories about this one.

Nebraska - Omaha - Lynch Park - You go there and you can hear footsteps of people running and the crying of a baby. One witness heard a man screaming saying,” It’s so cold, help me," and you could swear that you felt a man grab your leg. I don't think i'd like this to happen to me. I would seriously probably piss my pants.

These are just a few from my state. Any of you have some interesting ones from your state?

Fort Dodge - terror bridge - It has been said that a woman threw 3 of her 4 children off the bridge while a train was coming one of the 4 got away when you drive over the bridge at midnight your car will shutoff till your over the bridge and by her house where she hung herself and burnt down. if you go under the bridge her truck is still where she parked it. It is truly terrifying. it has also been said that you should lock your doors and roll up your windows or she will throw you over too.

I go there about once a year. I will have to see if this is true.

Cherokee - American Theatre - East Main St. - It has been said by the employees that work in this old movie theatre that the former owner, Mr. Goldie, haunts it. A previous theatre manager related a story about an incident that occurred to him, when he was all-alone in the theatre. Apparently on day as he was walking across the stage he looked out at the seats where the customers would sit. And he saw one seat about 3-4 rows from the front and 2 seats in rocking slowly all by itself. There are other stories to be told of the hauntings there, but all you need to do...is come, and visit with the staff at the American Theatre.

- About a 40 minute drive southwest from where I live, fairly familiar town to me.

Emmetsburg - Vacant lot behind Nauss Oil on Highway 18 - There once was a motel on this sight. The people that ran the motel lived in a house across the road for a while, then the motel was demolished but the drive way is still there. Sometimes an old man in a plaid shirt and chino slacks walks along the old drive way and stops 5 or 6 times like he is checking doors. The house across the street where the people lived was still standing in 2002 and they were renovating it.

Good school, always had a reputation for being good at sports, I attend track meets here. Also around a 40 minute drive northeast of here.

Estherville - Oak Hill - its a cemetery and there is this hill that is haunted. The story is that a car full of football players were going to their game and their car stalled on this very hill. So they all got out and started to push the car up this hill then a car came around this bend and didn’t see the football players and hit them. All of the players died. People say that if you put your car in neutral between these 2 markers you will go uphill because the football players push you up the hill because they don’t want you to get hit by another car. Another story is that two children who lived in the nearby mansion were playing in the road when they were run over and killed. When your car moves, it is the children pushing it off of them. Anyway, the going up hill sensation is caused by an optical illusion. For this to work, you must be headed downhill. In the place where you stop, the road levels off and appears to go up in comparison to the rest of the road. If you go down the hill and around the curve and look back, you will realize that the entire road does indeed go down hill.

Also attend track meets here, pretty close to E-Burg.

Laurens - infant cemetery - out in the middle of the country you will go up a hill on a gravel road. On top of that hill you will see an old run down white abandon house. To your left pushed back in the corner of A lot of trees you will see a small cemetery. No one has been buried here in years, and as you walk into the graveyard you will see to your left 3 small graves with the same last name. Legend has it that the three graves are from 3 little girls that lived in the house a long time ago until there father killed them. Some people went into the house and found a bunch of old toys and stuffed animals. Gusts of cold wind will blow as soon as you step out of your car, and many voices have been heard inside the small round cemetery.

- I go to school here, about 20 minutes southeast of where I live, I know exactly where this cemetery is, never gone in it though.

Spencer - Moose Pond - a long long time ago there was a boy ice fishing on the pond, It was getting late so the boy was starting to pack up when the ice broke he fell in the water which is 40ft deep and drowned. now if you go down there at 8:47 pm on the 23rd of December you can hear thumping on the ice and the screams of a young dying child.

- 20 minute drive north of me, not sure where Moose Pond is, this is where we go to the movie theaters and all that kinda stuff.

Storm Lake - Buena Vista University - McAllister Cottage - This location on College Ave, has been the home of six Buena Vista University Students who repeatedly saw, from their back porch, the spirit of a woman. Strange occurrences of lights turning on and off, as well as strange smells and hot musty drafts have also been encountered. The second McAllister cottage has since been demolished and made a parking lot.

Storm Lake - Swope Hall 305 - The ghosts name is Mary. Died of lead posening causing her to go crazy and jump out of the third floor window of her house that used to be located in the same location as Swope Hall Room 305. Likes to open and close doors, even when locked, and will open and close the closet doors of that room. Also will venture into other rooms and play pranks, especially with electrical equipment. - *Note: There is a false rumor around the college that she was a student and jumped out the window of 305, or that she lived in 305 and jumped off Smith Hall, but this has no historical backing and all of the people who have see talked to her have nothing from the conversations to support this.

- 25 minute drive south of me.

I've also been to Ames, Sioux City, Fort Dodge, Des Moines, and other cities quit often but wouldnt know where to find those places. This past halloween we went in two abandoned houses on Halloween, one near a cemetery where a father killed his daughters, and the other one just abandoned, nothing was too freaky about this, but then again there were 5 of us with baseball bats and two flashlights, although I'm not so sure I'd ever go there alone, or anything less then 3 people. The one house looks like the people just got up and left, as there is furniture, tv's, speakers, beds, and newspapers laying around and it's set back in the woods, on a pretty big farm with tall freakin' grass.

That would really make me crap my pants if you were in this house and all of a sudden the tv turns on and the chair moves. :eek2: That would totally not be cool.

wow i checked every single one for utah these are addicting to read, so far it looks like we just planned on going to that canyon with the hearse this weekend, it apparently has a lot more in it further down the page, people say stuff like the devil owns that part of the woods, satanic worshippers go up there and sit around fires, there are even stories of people being chased by people in dark cloaks, it sounds like fun, i also think i'll be keeping an eye open whenever im in the bonneville salt flats also it sounds like something about people aimlessly walking around in the far off distance at night, sort of as a silhouette in the horizon, sounds sweet!

My work place is listed in Anna Il. Chaote has been around since 1869 and if someplace is going to be haunted it would be there. I have personally seen and heard some freaky shit in my 6+ years there. I was working on this one unit and about 4:15 am one morning my co-worker and I heard glass breaking and after a search of the entire building we didn't find one shard of broken glass.

Salina - Hottz House - 20 miles west of Salina - Old house in the middle of nowhere. This building had dated back from the time of slavery. You can hear footsteps late at night. Said that you can find a tunnel used to move slaves. But only few have found it. - December 2003 Update/correction: The home does in fact have tunnels in it and anyone that has ever been there knows this because the entrance to the tunnel is very visible and directly at the bottom of the basement stairs. While it is there it is not a tunnel ventured by many, The submitter to this update knows of nobody that has been in them, not because of the fact that they are scary but because of the fact that nearly year round its filled with water. The place is used by many satanic groups in the area for ritualistic purposes and is covered in satanic graffiti.

I am gonna have to go here...Its only an hour away.

In my area that are listed...

Pryor - Crybaby Bridge - One day long ago a baby had drowned while parents were picnicking. It is said that if you drive over Crybaby Bridge at night you can hear a baby crying. (haven't heard anything myself but I've had friends who have)

Pryor - Thunderbird Youth Academy - many years before it was a military school it was a orphanage the say a tornado hit the orphanage and killed a lot of the children who lived there the stories are that if you are awake at night you can here the talking and laughing of children and there is eye witness proof that a child haunts the attic of what is now the third platoon building. (makes me feel all warm and tingly inside because I take night classes and the building is right beside this place)

Salina - Old Salina - the Old Salina court house - there is a holding cell still standing as well as the old court house itself with the old whipping tree and a square are of flowers where the hanging tree used to be. Across a creek to your north is an old cemetery. If you take a tape recorder with you, you will get audio of a heart beat in this area as well as the feeling of ghostly presence taking pictures will show ghostly figures on your film even in the day light. (this place is pretty damn scary, there are blood stains in the floor and everything, a woman can be seen walking around it at night, my cousin lives near it and we went down there on his 4-wheeler one night, heard mubblings comeing from the woods where the hanging tree was)

I have a good one though that isn't listed if we want ghost stories. This chick I know use to live in an old plantation type house. In her barn were old chains used for bad slaves and you could see scartch marks on the wall. At night I swear you could hear chains clattering around and something hitting the walls. Also, out in her field you could hear what sounded like old slave songs.

Also, my cousin's house is on an old Indian graveyard. I've seen some stuff there that'll turn you white. Lights, old Indian men out in the woods, voices, creepy stuff like that.

Some of the $hit on that site in some cities is just f-ing crazy. 90% of those I wouldn't wanna find out myself and the other 10% I would just wanna see a few of the lesser scary places. Hah!!

I don't know about the rest of you but I really don't feel like getting followed by a ghost or have a shadowy figure come at me.

^It ain't so bad. Sometimes nothing happens...normally nothing does. Heck, even when you're alone. I spent 2-3 hrs in this one graveyard. The one on that site in Orlando, Rouse Rd. Cemetary.

Aniwho, I was suppose to listen for this owl (signals the ghost is near) but since i was there by myself I knew I might get bored so I brought my CD player, so i never heard anything. oops. But i did take pics...im kinda slow on developing film. oh well.....

On a related note, does anyone watch supernatural on the WB? its about 2 brothers who deal with this stuff.

Yeah I watch that, btw do you know what make their car is? Its a freaking awesome car.

Anyway I was reading more about Dallas and came across this one, that I actually want to check out..

Dallas - Flag Pole Hill Ghost- Near Flag Pole Hill on Northwest highway. There is a narrow horseshoe shaped road with lots of trees; a few obscured houses in between. Once you start down this narrow road, you must continue . No place to turn around. Mysterious events such as rocks flying from impossible angles towards cars; sudden unforeseen vehicular body damage, etc, have occurred. The local police department will verify this as far back as 1976. Do not drive down at night.

I would have to go in a beater of course but it would still be cool to see if it's true.

Lebanon - Old Cottage - This cottage was once an old school house. Late at night (12:00 to 1:00) you can hear children screaming and running in and out of the rooms. When these children run in the moonlight they become visible to the human eye.

Pretty weird. This is in my school district. I have heard about it before. Its 3 miles away from my house. Creepy

Brian Senior High School - Two years ago there was a fight at this school. A kid was about to punch the other kid and fell and broke his neck. There was reported sightings of large objects being moved around, cold breezes in specific areas on hot days, and kids being shoved and pushed by an invisible force. People also say they have seen the kid. He is a dark shadowy figure with none of his features visible.

Also weird. Because I live nowhere near there really, and I've heard the story about this. The kid laid on the ground for two or three hours before anyone found him. I heard he was punched over a rail though, which would make more sense. The kid he was fighting decided not to tell anyone.

Not my state or even close to me but I was just looking through random states. I looked in Georgia and found these:

Atlanta - Austell - Six Flags Over Georgia - Amoco Gas Station in Parking Lot - The Amoco gas station in the parking lot at Six Flags over Georgia is haunted. Apparently a little girl about 9 years old with blond hair was hit and killed by a car in the early 70's. Today guests report seeing a little 9 year old girl come running up to them crying "Mommy, Mommy, Please help me find my Mommy!". The guests usually think this is a typical lost child. The guests agree to take the girl to someone to find her mommy and proceed with her. They get no more than 10 yards when they notice the little girl has completely disappeared and is nowhere in sight. Some people have actually gotten a photo of the little girl.

Blairsville - Old Boot Factory - This man who worked there got tired of life so the man hung himself with the boot laces. Drive by there late at night and you can see him looking out at you. Go to the back of the building and look through the window there will be a light on and you can see the mans body hanging there.

Carrollton - Target - There was a Target Dept. store under construction, when the police were chasing someone that had gotten away from them. He climbed up on the upper beams of the structure trying to get away, and fell to his death. Everyone that has ever worked there has said that it gets strangely cold even during the summer in the stock room. They also say that you can hear running footsteps but there would be no one back there. You can hear things falling but nothing actually did. In the front of the store in the offices, strange smells will occur.
I work at a Target, so this one made me get goosebumps. I have no idea why.

Fairburn - Peter's Woods - There's an old cemetery in the woods & they are haunted by an Amish girl who was in love with a non-Amish boy & her father found out & told her she could never see the boy again, so the girl went into the woods & hung herself. Sometimes you see her ghost on the side of the road & stop to pick her up & she tells you to go to her house. Once you stop you see her father run out of the house & start screaming at her & she runs into the woods. If you chase her, you get deep into the woods & feel something brush the top of your head & you look up to see her body hanging from a tree. Then you look again & see nothing but the remnants of an old house & a small family cemetery.
This one also gave me goosbumps.

Forest Park - cemetery across the street from the teen center - it has a shed and when you walk towards the shed at night, you'll get this really weird feeling in the pit of your stomach, and it feels like something is pulling your soul out of you. For the next few days you will feel like you are invisible or like nothing around you is real.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I think this one would be fun to see.

So these are just a few from Georgia. If any interest you and you are near there, check them out.

Just a few more from my state: Nebraska.

Alexandria - Cemetery - As your leaving the town, right after you pass the cemetery, a shadowy covered wagon follows you all the way to the highway. It stays right behind you even if you go 90mph.
I have no idea where this town is at, but I for sure want to find it.

Beemer - Canyon Road - Go up to the golf course and keep going on the gravel road right in front of it. And stop on the corner where you can see the graveyard. At 12:35 in the morning shut your lights off and honk your horn 3 times and when you turn on your lights again there should a better ghostly figure of a man standing in front of your car.
About 45 minutes from me. This one would also be awesome to check out. If I do end up going to some of these I will try and take pictures to see if any of them are true. I wonder if i'll get haunted by these supposedly ghosts after I go and visit them?

Weeping Water - Witch's Bridge - It is said that many years ago this witch hung herself from the bridge known as Witch's bridge. It is said that if you go out there on an odd night at an odd hour with an odd number of people and hang your head and top half of your body over the edge of the bridge you will see yourself hanging or she will pull you under the bridge.
This one gave me goosbumps. I so want to try this but don't know where this town is! DAMNIT!

Weeping Water - Weeping Water Graveyard - If you go there at night you can see people rising from the graves and if they see you they might come after you. When they saw me they did and they will attack so beware.
I wonder if it's true. I'm pretty fast on my feet. I might no be brave enough to do this one. I'll have to have like 5 people with me.

I'm not sure if any of these are true. But I really would like to find out. ANy of you have any other ones that you read and got goosebumps, post them and let us know.
