help please...i have a 2004 stratus and my oil light keeps blinking on ..i checked oil, fine, changed oil fine, light came back on but shuts off occasionally and if i put in park and rev engine to 3-4k rpm it goes out ..i was told it might be the oil sensor ..as that sensor is notorious in these engines and all i wanna know is where the sensor is its a 2.2 i believe ..no engine noise ..no leaks... no burning oil and oil is full..so anyone know where the sensor is?

If it is a 4cyl it is a 2.4l, if it is a v6 it is a 2.7l.

!!! If the oil light is coming on, you need to take it to a mechanic that can connect a mechanical pressure guage to it and make sure you have oil pressure.!!!
If you do, it is a sensor problem. If you don't, you are at risk of a total engine failure any second. The oil light is usually set up so it will not come on and alarm the driver unless something is REALLY (as in ready to blow up) wrong.

i know about the pressure test ...but i work 100 miles from home and nobody can get me in just to test it till next week and the suggested changing the sensor because they all feel thats the problem ...something bout it being plugged ..the sensor that is..i dunno how a sensor gets plugged but thats what the mechanics said ...engine still quiet and no knocks ,no sputter no leaks

if you have the 2.7 V6 engine, there was a TSB back in 1999 for the Chrysler Concorde/Dodge Intrepid vehicles equipped with that same engine that had a faulty oil sensor. What happens is the sensor is mounted underneath the catalytic converter and gets unusually hot and melts a seal inside of the sensor. In turn it cause a bit of oil to get on the electrical terminal and cause the oil light to come on inside your car b/c the film of oil is creating a faulty signal. Though, if you call a Chrysler dealer, they'll say that your car is not part of the TSB, but you can still for about $40 buy a vent wire part number 5017800AA at your local Dodge/Chrysler dealer and a new oil pressure sensor and that should fix your problem.
