springs and install

Whats up fella's. I bought Sprint 1.5" drop springs and am running into a few problems installing them. So, first things first. On the rear (passenger side) we break a socket trying to release the nut. Then, we break the bolt holding the nut. So, we move to the driver side and break an extension. We put up for the night after that. So, we accomplished nothing but destruction (it's part of the fun!) So, the car's an 88, 14 years old. The bolts and nuts are rusted together and to the car basically. My question is, is there anything to make this any easier? The tire shop wants $250 for the spring swap. I really don't wanna pay this but if people tell me they've ran into the same problems, I might just let them take care of it. Saves me some trouble but let's see. Any tips or tricks I don't know about? I'm pretty competent with tools and mechanics but damn if this isn't frustrating. Next step, paint!

what brand of tools are you using? this is one of those jobs where a good set of craftsman tools are nice... a 1/2 rachet, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm sockets and wrenchs will remove everything... second, if a bolt is begin a pain go get some PB Blaster, spray it up and let it work its magic... impact wrenches are always nice... but not neccessary... a nice 4 ft length of pipe can work nice to help remove stubborn bolts... i believe thats how i got the one up front at the bottom of the strut actually, give it nice steady pressure

the funny thing is I was using Craftsman. I don't know what the deal was. Just old and rusty I suppose. I better get it fixed soon because I think someone is gonna buy my bug soon! Yay!!
