throttle cable sticking??

well,it started today,whenever I shift,the throttle(I can tell by the tach)
drops real slow, then kind of stops at 1500 rpm...
I can hold the gas pedal steady at about 2-3000 rpm then let off,
it goes down real slow until it dies,
so I'm guessing its the throttle cable,
I messed with it a little bit, checked the freeplay,
everything seemed alright,so what else could it be?
No one has a throttle cable (acclerator cable) not advanced, autozone, napa,o reileys, carquest,I cant find one,
so I put a WTB up in the classifieds,if anyone else knows what else it could be or some sort of test I could do on it let me know asap,
the only other sorce I can think of is that its my computer from where its cold,
because I have a pm9 in my car,& at times it acts up when its cold out,,,but its not that cold.
But N E Wayz, does it sound like the throttle cable?

Before replacing the actual throttle cable you should probably check for other stuff. Blip the throttle mechanism with your finger and if it gets stuck (ie. meaning the throttle body will not close all the way to its idle point when you let go of it) then spray some dw40 on the throttle mechanism. I just don't see how the actual cable can go bad unless it breaks.

well if you twist the cable around to get at other stuff in the engine bay then maybe some strands broke. but u can try and remove the cable from its sleeve and oil the cable and put oil in the sleeve and slide the cable back in all the way then back out and in and out till it feels nice and smooth. well,I messed around with it some more, got behind the pedal & everywhere else(pushing & pulling, trying to make a difference)
started it up & came over to my house to get the other computer(pm5) & it ran good!,I'm starting to think its not the throttle cable either,
just before I started the car up & drove, the sun was out & it got a little bit warmer,so for some reason it may be the computer,
but have you ever heard of a computer going bad in a car when the weather gets warm, but its not the right computer that goes to the car,
but hey,,,its a honda,anything could happen,

I called honda, they said its 29.77 for the cable & 31.00 for the wire,
(the wire inside the cable)
so,it probably wont go bad unless it breaks & the cable moves from the pedal to the throttle body,
but wd-40 sounds like a good idea, the smallest thing I dont even think about!
but,I'm changing back to my pm5 until next summer,
if it fixes everything, doesnt do anything all day,I'll let everyone know
thanks alot for the quick response,

when the problem happens, have you tried to isolate the cable by reving it by the TB? no CELs? no vacuum gauge to check the vacuum readings at idle and part throttle areas?

I had a guy with a 1st gen neon have a problem with the computer. Whenever it would get real hot, it would blow the first fuse on the tree (Fuel pump). After replacing the fuel pump and tracing wires for three hours, we replaced the computer and haven't had a problem since... So, it might be the computer.

I replaced the ecu today & havent had a problem since,
but now my car goes up & down,up & down,about 3-2000 rpm,
then it quits,weird,
I disconnected the battery when changing ecu's,
it usally does this when I first change them, then sooner or later it quits,
I guess its just the motor getting use to the ecu,
thanks to everyone who helped out,
AF has always been like that.
