Ok looking to flush out all that dexcool out of my system. After i drain it should i also flush it with water to make sure every drop is out. Dont want that stuff mixing with the green stuff at all. Whats the best way to go about this??

i did mine afew weeks ago. and all i did was drain the old crap then filled it back up with water from a garden hose opened the drain tap and fired up the truck. be sure to crank the heater while its running. then i left the garden hose in the overflow tank and let it run. and just watch the water come out of the drain on the rad till its clear. very basic and simple

you can also repace it with the new stuff that can be mixed with either green or orange. cheap insurance if you ask me.

if you are taking the time to change I would go pick up a prestone flush kit, its like 5 bucks and allows you to back flush your system which will clean alot of slime and gunk from the system. It hooks to your garden hose and all you have to do is install a "T" into the line well worth it. I back flush my system every other year and after the first time you will notice your heater works alot better, a common problem is the heater core will get plugged during the summer from non circulation. Think of it as 5 dollars in preventative maintenance and also ensuring you get all the old dex out.

Bad idea altogether. The two types or not compatible. There's just no way to flush the bloack totally.

Not true...

Pull the block drain plug on the left side and pull the knock sensor on the right. Block empty, just like that.

I would keep the Dex IMO. Just use distilled water with it.

Well the way i did it which deffinatley drained it all out was take out the frost plug. My frost plug was coroded and needed replacing to i knocked it out and drained all the old dex out. Then flushed it with a hose. Filled it with water by blocking the frost plug hole with a golf ball, then let it drain out totally again. Deffinatley cleaned it all out. Then filler her up with the good old green stuff :icon16:

Im gonna disagree with you. I work for quakerstate and flush out dex cool and put the green coolant back in every day. To be honest just take it to an oil change place (that does coolant flushes) Theres a machine that hooks up to your radiator and it sucks out all of the coolant and gravity feeds back in. Once coolant is mostly out run your car which will get the rest of the coolant out(watch temp gauge)once the dex is completely flushed feel free to put the green back in. I get alot of angry customers saying the dealer told them its supposed to have dex cool however if done right then nothing to worry about. If still a little wiery about the whole idea just ask them to flush it out twice they should do this no problem because they will be happy to make the sale and have a new customer. Also if any problems may occur after doing this they are responsible for any damage just be sure to contact the place that originially did the service before bringing into a dealer or what not. All costs have to be covered by law. Alot of people may disagree with me however i do this everyday for a living. Good luck
