Imagine yourself in ancient Egypt, at the Royal Pyramid Test Site...
The Pharaoh nods approvingly at the new design. "Can we move it to Giza?" he asks. A particularly sweaty slave-driver shakes his head. "Okay, just build a new one there. Demolish this one."
ACK! THE HUMANITIES! I know they're mass-produced, but how can you just whack a piece of art like that? It's disturbing that there is any kind of legislation that makes this wanton destruction mandatory! In the interest of not having to see pictures like these again, I have a proposal:
Let's start a petition to have something useful done with these cars. I mean, let them ship the engine and drivetrain back to Japan, but the body can be put on display in some sort of a museum. Heck, they can fill the chassis with epoxy to make certain it never moves again if they want. But it shouldn't be wasted like this. Not so many great cars, over and over again. I've seen some site where you can start a petition and have people sign it online, but I don't remember what it was. If somebody notices how many people are crapping their pants over this one, then maybe Nissan will try to work something out. All I'm asking is let's try. It is not a fitting end for the most sought-after enthusiast car to become a big, yellow paperweight.

That would be nice, but I'm afraid the US Govt. isn't going to pay a few thousand dollars to have the stuff shipped to japan when they can just crush it  I love Skylines just as much as the next guy and I hate to see um crushed, but I can see were the govt. is comming from, it just isn't good for a nation with as big a national debt as us to be spending extra money on non essentials :( :(
P.S. Nice analogy w/ the pharoah thing :D :D

hey guys. Skyline's are being sold in the states. the gov't really doesn't give a crap. it's your fault if you die b/c of the horrible crash rating. and it's also your fault for paying a good $90k for the thing. sure i love skylines, but i figure, might as well wait for one that passes the crash rating before i pay for one. and just to tell you, there are import companies importing skylines in the US. i spent a week in Cali, and i saw 2 on the road, and 1 in a lot. me and a few friend's checked out the one in the lot. THAT ONE was NOT a conversion. it was the real thing, oddly. but getting to my main point, SKYLINES ARE SOLD IN THE US. you just have to pay about $90,000 for a used 99 GT-R R34. seen the ad already.
anyways...

are you new?! lol
thanks for the 2 year old info
MotoRex has been running for a while... and you could always buy skylines from them
and yea the government does give a crap, because the only way to get a Skyline into the U.S. is buying it from motorex.
You CANT import a GTR yourself....

Well, if you wanted to use it as a showcar you could import one yourself, but only be able to drive it 5k miles (I think). But whats the fun in that? :D

I've talked to people that have tried to do that and they couldn't even get it for show
They're not alowed on the street at all of they aren't from motorex..... but you can import one for yourself aslong as it's only on the race track.

Hmm, I haven't met any one who had a car w/o a VC number in country for show so I don't know. I'm just going by what it says on the DOT page about show cars, but then agian it's the government so ya never know

Does anyone actually think that the state of AZ would crush someone's car for excessive tickets?!
I hear gullible isn't in the dictionary either.
"As originaly posted by Neo_Omega at www.RX7forum.com
got some new info. that's no someone car. It's nissan's car. It for testing.
There have been three Skylines in Phoenix because the Nissan proving grounds is here. I was at a local car show and one fellow who works for Nissan brought a yellow Skyline to show off. This model was single turbo in-line six with rear wheel drive only. He said that it is scheduled to be destroyed/crushed in July(There's your car). The V-spec and the other one were destroyed in a car crusher last year. They can only bring these cars over for testing for a limited time. It's cheaper to destroy the car than to send it back to Japan. They have to video tape it being destroy as proof to the DOT. Nothing can be taken off the car, no seats, emblems, tail light. The whole car and engine."

We all need to devise a way to fool DOT into thinking that we would destroy our Skylines after bringing them here to "race" them.
I'm sure I you report it stolen it'll go unnoticed. Or move to a state where emissions arent done and never get pulled over (VIN can't be reg'ed but reg an older car and slap its stickers on ur Sky)
I dunno maybe it'll work? Of course I've seen pigs fly whadaya talkin about??!! :right:

If it's too expensive to send it back to Japan, send it to me in Barbados! Cheap $500 roll-on roll-off from Miami. I'll pay the duties :D :D :p
