pulsing fan

I can't find this exact situation in the historical postings, so, at the risk of repeating an old discussion, I'll start a new thread...

the blower fan in my '02 LTZ pulses on and off every few seconds. It almost seems to run when accelerating, stop when braking... It's most noticable after start-up when the fan usually comes on fairly high to get the interior temperature to where it should be.This happens whether the climate control is set to Auto, or a specific fan setting is used, including the defrost setting.

Is this the famous fan clutch? what is the remedy?

Thanks for any help/advice you have.
