front acceleration vibration

i just recently had eibach lowing springs installed on my GTP with new tires as well. Every time i gave gas the car would vibrate. I thought maybe the new tires weren't balanced. It turns out to be the C-V joints from the transmission to the drive axiles. Both need to be replaced. The car lowered exactly 1.50 inches. Has any one had these problems with lowering their grand prix (gtp)?? reichenbach243@hotmail.com tell me your story and did it work??

That's the first time I've ever heard about needing new CV joints with a lowering kit. How many miles were on your GTP? One problem with lowering springs is that it may change the camber alignment so a camber adjusting kit may need to be installed. Here's one of the other common problems.

It could be possible the axle got damaged when the struts and springs were removed....Even though the hub and axle are not removed during a spring swap when the strut is unbolted ive seen mechanics let the hub just drop, maybe causing it to bend a little

Well i have heard of it and it turned out to be the right side cv joint driveshaft. Replaced today and runs better than ever. The cv joint was damaged and because the car was lowered, it made it worse. Also had the supercharger oil replaced today. Lowering your car changes all the specifications.

Anythings possible but the drive axles for a GTP are built to last to at least 150K miles or more and designed to handle over 500 hp. The lowering exacerbated a defectve one or it got damaged some how.
Here's an anecdotal note which may have bearing. GM replaced the axle half shafts on GTP only with an alleged better one in the 2000 model year. This is applicable to '00 - '02. The '97 - '99 have different ones. The parts number do not match and they are not interchangeable. :dunno:
At least you got it fixed.

[regalfriend] Hey. Thanks for the tip. Ya you never know these days what's being done to cars from mechanincs mistakes. It turned out to be damaged. I have a funny feeling something was wrong with my car before i lowered it. As long as i owned the car, every time i would start and take off, i would feel a light vibration/grinding feeling. And i bet you it was that cv joint driveshaft. But what a difference in my steering. With the newly added springs and 4wheel alighnment and now this, it drives the way it was suppose too.
