I have a 2003 with a 6 speaker system (I think) 2 in the dash, one in each door (2dr) and 2 in the back.

This thing really sounds like crap... I like bass and I can't get any out of this radio. I have an 2002 impala with 4 speaker system that sounds a hell of alot better then this. It will shack the mirrors so you can't see out. :evillol:

Is there anything I can do to make it sound better? I know I could put an amp and different speaker and things like that. But I really just want to have it stock and sound good.

When buying a factory sound system. There isn't much you can do. If you want better sound. You'll have to go with a after market system.

fade more to the rear, this will put less on the dash which even though they look like big speaker enclosures are just tweeters. turn bass up to about 3/4 and treble at the normal mid spot, adjust from there to taste or do like i did.
jvc kdlh-1100 head unit 50watt x 4 (pretty colors)
2 - 12" MA Audio 700 watt 4ohm dual voice coil subs
500x1 kenwood amp and a .5farad cap
4gig ipod mini on input line

I have a small 300w amp that I'm not using would this help if I hook it up to the stock stuff?

Also, Do you think I need to spray foam or something around the back speaker to make like a box? I don't mean on the speaker I mean between the outer shell of the truck and the frame work the the speaker hooks to.

I was thinking that maybe the reason the impala with the same stuff sounds better is because the truck is acting like a box. Just a thought.

What do you think about the foam or something?

Dumping a amp into those factory speakers will do nothing but blow them. As for the foam..dynamat is what you want to use..but I would say it's a waste of money to dynamat it unless you plan to build a system into it.
Replace your stock headunit with a aftermarket piece. At least then you will get some decent bass/treble response from the stock speakers.
