Rear Engine Possibilities

Ok, so I called a bunch of japan auto parts palces, I can get a 2jz motor trans harness ecu turbos i/c etc etc etc for a 2jzgte for 2700- 3500 (canadian dollar) with 40,000-70,000km (25,000-45000 miles) on it. I can get a 3gtse motor and trans with turbo i/c wiring etc etc for 2200 - 3000 with the same milage. Now, one guy offered me the rear section complete of an MR2 with suspension and motor tranny etc for about 2800 bucks. Would it be possible to convert the celica to a rear engine? It has to be converted to an rwd anyways so the mr2 suspension and stuff would be a good idea to get right? What are your thoughts on mounting a rear engine in this baby?

anything can be done with enough time and money

I have seen someone put a H22 into a integra rear engine mounted

it takes alot of work but if you can find the forum that, that integra was on you could possibly find alot of the information you would need

try google searching something like H22A, thats how my friend first found it

That just so happens to be my speacialty, haha. Got a new mig today, wiring it as we speak. The gt4 ran off the same chassis as the rest of the modles right? Just gota ge the rear suspension and diff?

Thanks, Ryan.

not just suspension, you'll be fabricating basically your own engine cradle for the rear plus new stuctural support for the rear end. And there is probably other fabriction involved with the shifter as well. Where are you going to move the gas tank? Front? Are you moving the fluids to the rear aswell? How are you going to route the water lines to the back? There is a lot that will be needed and tons more I even can think.

True, tons of re-arranging involved but I guess thats half the fun haha. Anyone can drop in a 3g motor, not anyone can put it in the rear of the car. We'll see how it goes I guess, see what I can come up with. MR2 rear end is different though, then the alltrac gt4 right?
