I was draining the coolant from the radiator- I guess i backed the plug out too far and now i cant get the threads to catch and screw back in....it appears to have like a round piece that goes around the lower portion of the plug as if that is where the top of the plug ends up. But i cant even get it started in there. Any ideas out there? Thanks!

That's a common problem. The plastic plug is cheap and fragile. Sounds like you'll need a new one. It only requires a short easy 1/4 inch counterclockwise turn to open and then close. Also the best tool to use to open/close it is a 1/4" drive handle or ratchet end, of course without any socket attached.
