Flywheel Installation

I plan on buying an ACT 8lb. Lightweight Flywheel for my next mod. My question is, how hard is it to install one of these? I'm pretty good with basic bolt-ons, but I dont know how much work and time is involved with the flywheel. am I better off bringing it to a shop to install, and if so... can any local mechanic do the job? Thanks.

flywheel is a good choice. you need to drop the tranny to access the flywheel. idk how old and worn down your clutch is but if it is then i would recommend a new clutch

Very true, otherwise he'll end up having to take the tranny and everything else off twice. Plan on this being a weekend project, if you do it yourself and be sure to have a good repair manual at your side.

yeah now come to think of it, I think I'll just wait til my clutch is shot and do an ACT Clutch/Flywheel at the same time. what other mod would you guys reccomend then? I need more power!!

I already have an Intake, exhaust, high flow cat, plugs...

is that on an H22? You can always think of boosting or rebuild the engine w/ high comp pistons....you could get some performance cams and build the head up......there are a lot of things you can do. You need to figure out what you want and then save for that particular goal rather than spending a little at a time.

Yes its for an H22A. No boost becuase I dont have the money. How much of a difference would aftermarket camshafts make? They are quite expensive and I would hope that they make a noticeable difference.

Ok, aftermarket cams will give you a pretty big boost in power if you get the right ones. You will more than likely have to do some headwork along w/ the cams. You should go look for some Skunk 2 or Buddy Club cams and find the pricing. They will more than likely give you a dyno graph w/ the description of teh parts......

After thinking about it, I've decided to wait on camshafts too. I'm just gonna buy a Skunk2 68mm Throttle Body for now and then probably do some ignition work... I figure I'll get some noticeable power gains from that, and its also cheaper on my wallet. :)

ignition work ? you dont need any ignition work. stock honda ignition is good. the only thing you would need is a external coil but without any significant mods, you dont really need an external coil at this point

you're going to have to upgrade the valvetrain w/ some of those aftermarket cams.....you'll need to look into Titanium retainers, new higher tensile valve springs, keepers and maybe even new valves......

Camshafts are out of the picture now, too much money.

Just gonna stick with the throttle body, lowering springs, short shifter, etc. for now.

anyway, thanks for your guys help and suggestions... I'll wait til my clutch is shot, then do the act clutch/flywheel at the same time.
