05 Srt-4 vs. 05 C-6 vette

Ladies and gentlemen of AF.com... I officially name myself The Luckiest Dude on the Planet!!! (or just on AF.com)

It all started Like this :

I was on my way to the auto show on miami beach when i started noticing the closer i got to the show the more sports cars I saw.. that night i saw 2 Impreza sti's one of them was a imported 22B 2-door model RHD and i caught up to him and tried to take a pic on my phone but the dude took off before i got the phone ready. anyways so i had a blast at the show i saw the new Z06 in person along with the new Shelby GT and jeep brought some concept car called the Hurricane that look like the Warthog assault jeep from HALO. and a Crap load of other awesome cars.

So as me and my Buddy decide to leave finally around 11:00 pm and we're back on the highway. when i see an orange c-6 vette with paper plates still on it. the guy almost missed the division on the highway and cut about 3 lanes over and jumped in front of me.so he punches it while im still shocked thathe cut 3 lanes just like that without even hesitating


I see he slows down to normal speed, and i punch it and catch up to him and get next to him, he looks and taps the accelerator to allow the car to hop. i look back and let the BOV tell him Im Game. so I make sure that my gloves are on tight.. (I hate Racing with sweaty palms) and we take it from 40mph.... 3honks... 3...2...1... BOOM!

he takes off putting a 2 car lead on me and my foot is the floor board and im trailing him and as we went on we had to zig zag a bit in traffic and the highway we are on banks on certain areas so im maximizing on the banked areas and losing the gap and my speedo is at 85mph hes tapping the brake to cut in front of this chevy van. thats when i closed the gap.(what i don under stand was if the section we were on has 5 lanes Why he decided to cut the van off if his lane was empty) when he cuts the van off he starts to shake his head like he and owned me then he looks to the right of him and hears my BOV once more and he notice that im now edging my way in front. and when he realized it i was already 1/2 a car ahead. so he slams on the gas once more and we continue and my Buddy yells to me:

Buddy: Yo He's yelling out WTF!... He let go of the steering wheel!...He's flicking us OFF!! he's letting off the gas.. HE GAVE UP!! WTF!!!!

I look down at my speedo and it read 135 mph and i slap on the hazzards and he does the same i start to slow down back to reasonable speeds and he starts to pick up mad speed so i stick my hand out and give him the Thumbs up and he responds with a Ricer flyby..

Me ans my Buddy look at each other and started to laugh Hysterically in joy that we were able to keep up pass and make the vette driver submit.
in to 2 cars....

As i told everyone else at work That was Sheer LUCK AND A HORRIBLE DRIVER!!!

You actually wear gloves when you race? Does it allow for better grip on the shifter and therefore cut your 1/4 mile time by a few tenths?

I dunno. This sounds like the type of race I had with the Evo, against some hoser in an older Integra. I blew him away on the freeway, and let off, and he did the same thing you describe, a ricer fly by, and not accepting defeat. That is how I am interpreting your story, but maybe it is just the way it reads.

Just the Mopar BOV Fellas... aside form that stock. so I blame The fact That the C-6 Driver must have REALLY SUCKED and GOD gave My car one Heck of a BOOST in speed because I know there is NO F*cking way I could have done that against even a average driver or a poor driver.. But THAT GUY must have SUCKED really badly

yeah He must have suck Badly because I raced A c-5 a long time ago and the c-5 guy gave me a head start and all and he was gonna make chop suey out of my ass until he almost hit a car. theres another thread about this story

Alot of magazines tested the C6 in fresh form from the factory. With little to no miles on them.

And the Corvette can trap well over 110mph, like in the 114mph range. An SRT-4 may hit 100mph through the traps, but a 14mph difference is huge.

That'll compensate for driver mistakes.

lol, what happened was the Vette smoked him to about the end of 3rd prolly...about 110? Then Mr. Miraculously fast SR-T 4 does a ricer fly-by up to 135 thinking the Vette was still racing...That's undoubtedly what happened. And the Vette owner was shaking his head cus of that. Then he pisses off the Vette by throwing on his hazards like a retarded 16 year old and the Vette dusts him off one more time. That's what happened...lol

Well, I'll agree that, that scenario is more probable.

But can't be for sure... lots of people get spooked if they travel over 100mph. If you've ever messed with somebody on the freeway, most encounters don't usually go past 100mph.

I know, it just bugs me when someone makes a long, elaborate post about how they beat a car with 150+ more horsepower than them..on the highway to boot...LOL I mean seriously folks, I would even have a hard time believing a stockish SRT-4 beating a C5... :)

I was a bit harsh with the "idiot", but really, he put up an experience of how he supposedely.."beat the vette" in his words...He didn't say he played around with one. Ya, you're right. The Vette only has about 400 ft lbs of torque...what the fuck was I thinking? LOL And the Neon? Uh....has quite a bit less than that... :grinno: And the neon only weighs about 200 pounds less than the Vette. Even with the worst driver in the world the Vette wins...sorry.

You just look really stupid claiming to beat a C6 when I'm 99% sure he wasn't even trying...really, a C6 is so out of your league since all you have is a bov...get some sense. And you're right, he was stupid to drive like that in traffic as well.

He claims to have beaten a 400 hp/ 400 tq with his 230 hp/ 250 tq car that weighs 200 pounds less. Oh ya, he has 2 people in his car...the Vette has 1... THAT's BELIEVABLE...

SRT4s hit a brick wall in 4th gear. My friend stays even with me until he hits 4th and then I pull him hard in my a4 GTO. And I only have an LS1, not an LS2..

Dude shook his head, cause he didn't know what else he had to prove that he was ahead. The guy had a 2 car lead, and lost the lead when he hit traffic. Drifty does a fly by, probably yelling "GOAL!!", when he passes him. Dude gets upset. Yep, it's a win for the record books.

I just passed a Ferrari Enzo today, it was parked. I called the guy a chump as I proceeded to put buslengths on his P.O.S. $700,000 car. GOAL

drifty isnt saying that he is the new profound king of killing the almighty invincible vette.....and any vette in the world would shake and tremble in his presents.....the dude is just saying he got lucky...what a guy cant get lucky once in a while...none of us were there so obviously there could be many factors that come into play when he beat the almighty invincible vette.....all we could go by is his story and his story seems believable to me except the gloves part........for pete sakes your not a nascar driver.......

you might want to tell him to check for boost leaks........cause I my fourth gear spikes at 17psi stock and drops to 15psi which doesnt come close to falling on its face......but then again all cars are'nt created equal..

Actually the stage ones and above hold boost between shifts. I'm not doubting the power of the SRT-4. Heck, I was considering buying one. I just read the post, and it triggered ricer fly by. I've had it happen to me WAY too many times. I'm sure there are posts floating around about my hopped up WS6 getting smoked by an Acura TL somewhere (had a race with one, blew him away till 100, then my tires hit wet asphalt, and I spun partially sideways, so I had to get out of it).

Drifty I don't think your car sucks, that your driving suck, or whatever. I just think you think you won, when you lost. Same thing happened to me before to. Some fool obliterated my former Z28 on nitrous out of the hole, and got off the gas 1/8th mile down, to let me pass. He had a low 12 sec. car from what my buddy told me. Beating someone going inbetween cars doesn't count in my book, as you are only endangering other people's lives. Not to say that I don't do it too, but just pointing something out. Now mod your car, so that you can beat a C6, and stop defending yourself.

Good luck getting a stage 3 package. From everyone i've heard that owns an SRT-4, there is a huge waiting line. If you can't beat a C6 with a stage 3, SELL YOUR CAR!!!

I agree......actually drifty if you dont want to send that much on the stage 3 just get the stage 2 with toys and tune it........you'll be just fine against the c6.....as far as the waiting list for stage 3 thats ridiculous....some people just have too much money to blow.......

Motor Trend just did a test with a stage one, and the car ran a 13.3 sec. 1/4 mile. Pretty sick if you ask me, for such minimal mods.

yeah these cars do really well to mods even if there just some upgraded injectors and pcm.....but alot of times these damn ricers that buy modds for this car slap it on and expect to run miracles without tuning it.........just get disapointed....but I know this guy that ran a 12.8 with three mods....

I think this "win" was decided more by your friends than you. It is easy to have a friend or two friends talk you into believing you just pulled off some crazy win during a random race on the highway.

oh and as far as driving crazy on the highway, if you got the balls to do it then cool, dont get killed but if your chicken shit of seen tripple digits then go home and work on your bench racing. A race is a race and in the end the one ahead wins, be it from a dig, a roll or around a corner.
