Ticking noise coming from dash

I have a 98 Malibu. When driving down the road a ticking noise starts (sounds like the turn signal is on). It might keep ticking for 5 minutes and then stop and start again after a few minutes. Also now, when the ticking noise is happening there is a "dinging" noise (like an instrument light came on). This does not happen all the time, but is starting to happen more and more. Any ideas what's wrong?

I see no one has replied but was wondering if you have figured out why this has happened? I also have the same exact problem and I have not had any luck on fixing it?

I had the same problem with a ticking noise that sounded like a turn signal, but no dinging noise. I replaced the turn signal switch which was very easy and the problem went away.
