Af Gt-r?

Has anyone considered building a replica of the AF Skyline? I don't have the means to do it with custom decals needed and such. But I think this would be a pretty cool project. Anyone consider this yet? Maybe a few of us could chip in and build one for Igor. What aftermarket front bumper is that?

front bumper is Nissan's for the 24 Nurburgring race or the N1 Super Taikyu Race

i dont want to do it myself. was thinking we could maybe pull together to do it. for instance-

I would contribute by say.. buy the kit. Then have the kit shipped to someone thats retarded with paint like Pman instead of shipping it to myself. Have P-man or whoever hit it with white, have one of our decal masterminds do up the decals send them off, etc.. something like that.

You know how it is with modeling being time consuming, if we worked together it would be easy, and show support somehow, maybe have AF'rs bid on the model when its done. proceeds going to AF.

Sound too far fetched right?

Hey I love that idea, blueboost. I think, though, that instead of one person buying it, everyone who wants to contribute part of the build should pay for part of it (through paypal or something) so it won't get lost like a certain green Civic I vaguely recall... But nevertheless, I dig the idea. I'll volunteer some modeling time to it if you decide to give this a go.

I have the wheels and wing ready to go. :)

blueboost
11-09-2005, 08:35 PM
well maybe we can get Chris to donate a C-west bumper for us. I have the R34 kit in full, minus the NISMO wheels. But I'd like to see someone else help with the build. Tonio is in for the wing and wheels.

Do we have any body painting masters that would like to help? How about decal fabrication?

Now we only need Igor to read his PM's, something he hasn't done since purchasing the Skyline....

Try PM'ing mcervantes (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/private.php?do=newpm&u=452) if you really want to get an admin's attention.

The front bumper should be similar to the MCR one. Except the duct is larger on the super taikyu race car.

yeah but it looks like we'll need to order that aoshima MCR instead. I guess we need to find out who can knock out some nice replica decals for us, and then we could get this rolling.

The only problem being.... we are changing the kit on the real car.

We have Z-Tune fenders, bumper, and side skirts for the car.We are still undecided on the rear wing...

If anyone needs pictures of the car, they can be found in the media section of the gallery. There are a ton of pictures there.

I missed this thread.... hell ill do it myself. i can do the MRC or the Z-tune kit. when are you going to have pics with the new body kit? I can mask and paint the Livery and i would just need to make decals for the script. Maybe wheels and wing will be needed but its not that hard. graphics are pretty simple. But i guess i would need to send it to Hiroboy for the engine though, thats a little beyond me. ;) is anybody still interested in this?

The car is stripped for paint right now. We wont have any pics of everything on and installed for a few weeks.

The photos of the car are here:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/media/main.php/v/AutomotiveForumscom2004-2005/

However, we will be running the Z-Tune bumper and sideskirts in World Challenge, so the appearance will change a bit, as will the decals and color.

Thanks for the replies guys, this is actually a very exciting project for me. ive been checking out the photos and your GTR Nation website. i love Speed World Challenge, its the only respectable racing in the US for me, barring Lemans series of course. Simple solution could be to make a model of the old one and when the new one is complete make one of that, I'm sure more then one person has a Tamiya R34

Ok heres a really far out idea. It would need Igor's to go along with it but who knows he might. Lets have another contest, everyone that enters does a model of what they would have it look like if it was their car and then the winner gets his paint job on Igors real car... Igor and his staff choose the winner. Ok now I know thats kinda out there but I think it would be kind of cool to see all the differant ideas that everyone comes up with.....

freakmech
01-18-2006, 03:47 AM
Well if the car is competing in the Speed World Challenge then it starts in March which does'nt leave much time. But good idea but it should be open to the entire forum.... not just modelling. Maybe next year ;)

Oh yeah, let any Af member join in on it if they wish, plus we could start it sometime next month and run the contest untill the end of the year or sometime close to then and then Igor and his guys can pick a winner for next year. This also gives them time to get it ready for the beginning of the season next year...

I was thinking about this too. Right now we are committed to a white car, red inside. Paint is going on next week, HOWEVER,

We still can do decals. etc on the car. Lots of what you see on cars are just decals, just a base color.

We have another suprise too..... but.....everyone will find out soon enough..

merritr
01-18-2006, 08:18 PM
I like the idea too. I said we needed to change the graphics design because the design the car was running was associated with Buddy Club (that's what happens when the same person does the graphics... ;)). People actually came up and asked me about the Buddy Club car I had to tell them it wasn't actually a Buddy Club owned car. Since the car's main sponsor is AutomotiveForums.com and not Buddy Club the racecar needs something original.

I see people saying things about designing something for next year... well this year would be nice... The folks on Project Runway get 30 minutes to sketch up their designs for each challenge. A few days to sketch up a graphics idea for a racecar shouldn't be difficult... Why did I let myself get sucked into that show?
