Airaid Throtle Body Spacers work well, $80-120 depending on your truck, also airaid or k&n intake kits, $250+. If you have not put a free flow exhaust, I would do that first. I sell and have installed the Magna flow cat-back kits, they are easy to install and don't take much time, for me averaged about an hour. Chips or programers work well also, but have to run higher octane fuel. The first three will help the most with out spending $1000+.

horse482, i actually have an 02 z71 suburban. I am looking for just a replacement muffler. no cat back system. i want very little, if any, interior noise. i would like for the inside to stay as quiet as possible. magnaflow has been the most recommended so far. since you know more about them than i do, i will let your recommendation guide me.

Unless yours is a pre 99 Sierra, a TB spacer won't do squat.

a tb spacer is a throttle body spacer it gives your air and fuel more time to mix so you will get a more even burn giving you more hp and torque and reduced emmissions
