ABS light in my 95 GTP keeps coming on

Hey,
Over the last few weeks my ABS light has been coming on periodically and then shuts off again for a few days. Usually all I have to do is shut off the car and turn it back on for the light to go away.
On Friday of last week I had the oil changed at the place where I bought the car in September, he also checked the codes and told me that there were 6 'old' ABS codes reading and that he had cleared them. The mechanics thought was just that an old code was coming back from the grave from time to time.
Today on my way to work the light came back on, at about the same time that my low fuel light came on. If it makes a difference, at the time I had been driving on wet roads for about 45 minutes. I haven't been able to find a code reader for my car, everywhere I go has the same ones, and it won't work in my car, so I haven't had a chance to read the codes while the light is on.
Does anyone have any idea at all what could be going on?
The car is a 1995 Grand Prix GTP, 3.4L DOHC

Thanx
Jamie

You need to get it on an abs capable scanner with a troubleshooter supplement like a snap on mt2500.

It may be due to temporary power glitches due to a short or other interruption (such as the crankshaft position sensor) to the electronics. If I'm not mistaken, the ABS indicator is more sensitive to such glitches. I've noticed the same thing happening to my car and the problem seems to be (since symptoms have worsened) the cps.

I also have a '95 GTP.

However, this is just a guess since I'm very much the amateur.
