hey while changing the transfer case fluid i totally striped the fill bolt, and all the fluid is drained already, just wondering if anybody knows how much fluid i should pump in the case. Its a 2000 OLDSMOBILE Bravada. Haynes manual say 2.5 qt. but the last time i filled it if i remeber correctly, i put 2qt in it and it was more than enuff. so any advice would be nice.
oh yeah i have to pump the fluid thru the drain plug, is it bad if i pump in too much fluid ir too little? thanks

Can you remove the FILL plug? Is it possible the transfer case was not level when you filled it last time? The haynes book is a pretty good source of info and they get their capacity requirements from the manufacturer.

no the fill plug is pretty much a circle, instead of a bolt, my only option now is to pump the fluid in with a handpump. The last time i change my fluid i think i put 2 qt of AUTOTRAK II and it was too much, fluid start pouring back out thru the fill plug, so now i am not too sure how much fluid to pump in it.

There are some bolt extractors at sears if there's any bolt head sticking up...they look like a wierd socket.
I think too much would be better than too little in a transfer case...it's not gonna foam up like too much engine oil or transmission fluid.
