hmm, is the z6 in your 91 civic now ? 91 civics come with a cable trans. when you say z6 motor mounts and trans are you talking about trans mounts too ? because hydro trannys mounts are different

The drivers side mount bracket (the peice that actually bolts to the block under the timing cover) are also different... To use a D16Z6 or D15B VTEC (I hope thats the one u meant) into an EF/ED chassis then you must use the original mount from the EF/ED... And the cable trans from an EF/ED...

So in other words, if you have a Z6 in an EF/ED now, and your asking if u take it out, and swap all the mounts onto the D15B, then yes it will work... But if your asking if you have a Z6 in an 5th gen Civic, or from a 5th Gen civic (with the original mount bracket from that car). then no, youll need the bracket from an EF/ED...

But wait, why are u going from 1.6 to 1.5? Even if is has VTEC, the Z6 is still a better engine with .1 more displacement...

z6 has vtec.

And yes this should be a straight forward swap.

the 1.5 also has a better R/S ratio and will be able to rev more aptly, with close to the same power.

Since you have both engines why don't you do a mini-me setup. B7 (I assume you are talking about the b7 since you just said b) with a Z6 head will give you about 10.1:1 compression.

Thats what im saying, his post says hes swapping IN the D15B (I hope with VTEC) for the D16Z6 thats in there, well if both have VTEC, why swap in the D15B, even if it has VTEC? You loose 100cc displacement, and therefore low end torque... Otherwise, they are pretty much the same engine...

Revvability somone said? They both have the same redline and rev limit... So you can rev them both the same... Atleast by Honda's standards...

I mean, ok I can see trying to make the decision before hand, D16Z6 or D15B VTEC... I did it myself, and choose te D15B... But I just cant see swapping one out for the other.... But this thread is still a big mystery, and full of assumptions until this guy responds... Im really curious now why he would swap the Z6 out for the D15B...

allright now all this information is a great help and i appreciate it. well the reason why i decided to do a swap its because i got the car for $300 and decided to make it my project car, so i can get some knowledge before i start school next year. the car was not in good shape under the hood, the alternator, starter, distributor cap+rotor, spark plugs+wires,v-tec wires, O2 sensor, and exhaust manifold need to be replaced, and the Jdm engine D15B VTEC has it all new, i got it from a website. i know, i know if you have no experience dont do it, my father in law and a friend that have experience will do the honors to help, while i learn from the source.
im planning to do the whole nine yards to make it look good since im going to keep it cause i dont see anybody buying it for the amount :2cents: that i've spend on the parts, and i heard that the fuel injection system and the intake system is not compatible with a turbo kit.

Oh ok... So the Z6 is in bad shape... Makes sense now... Then yes, its should be as simple as pulling your engine... Take mounts, tranny and wiring harness off it... Slap all that on the new engine, and drop it back in... Should be limited problems since they are basically the same engines... Good luck and let us know how it goes... :bigthumb:

OMG where to start....

First for what you paid for the D15 you could have replaced all that on the Z6.

Second, dont count on all that being in good condition when you get the motor. You will still need to replace a bit of that.

Third why would you think the fuel injection system would not be useable with a turbo?

Fourth a turbo replaces your intake, so no.

Reading is your friend. Before you do any modding read, read, and read some more. Ask questions on here if you need help or don't understand something. Just don't ask questions that can easily be searched for or you might get flamed.

thanks for all the help. the deal with the fuel injection is what i heard from a friend. since i'll be studying automotive tech. i will be keeping the Z6 and get familiar with engine rebuilding. im so into cars that i wouldnt mind getting paid for what i love.

While you got the B7 out I would go ahead and replace the water pump, timing belt, and head gasket.
