Fan Belt ?

I know that this might sound dumb, but is it hard to replace the fan belt? or should I just take it in for that.

Very easy.....

Use a 16mm socket and rotate the tensioner to the left (it will swing right) Pull off belt... Install in reverse.. The belt routing diagram is on your fan shroud... It's a 5 minute job...

I would like to add to use a gm belt, i bought a goodyear gatorback belt and from reading these forums many found them to tear apart really early so i replaced it with an original and no problems, good luck

A stout Gates belt does the trick well too. I trust Gatorbacks for timing belts in smaller 4 cylinder engines, but NOT as a main acessory belt. I had two in a row get shredded on a Dodge V-8 magnum truck I used to own. Thank god for lifetime warranties on crap parts. Good parts usually carry full 90 day warranty, with limited lifetime. There's a difference!

Why would you use the crap belt for a timing belt. The timing belt afterall is the heart of your motor. Not to mention you loose a timing belt in the wrong car and your looking at some $$. I'm not being a smart assss, just wondering.

I've never needed to use any tools while changing my belt. I just push in the tensionor with my left hand, while I slide the belt off the idler with my right hand. Remove the old belt. Route the new belt, leaving the idler pully for last. Then finish by pushing in the tensionor with my left hand again, while I slide it on with my right. Takes about three minutes.

Are you hercules or something? I'm 6'1 200 pounds and bench 250 and no farking way could I maintain a grip on that tensioner with one hand!

man i still only change belts by hand, and im only 6'3" 220lbs and bench well more but it doesnt matter and its cake in fact you kinda use the idler as your balance point push... pull... slide.... route... pull.... push... done, did this when i changed my alternator

screw that... just use a 16mm socket

Better to be safe then sorry...........I would stick with the 16mm and breaker bar. For the record. I'm 6'1" @ 210lbs. Bench, Picnic ........... :naughty:

The tensionor is in a different location than on your 95. I'm 6'1" 205 and can bench press a small car (exaggeration), but in only takes minimal effort due to the location and the amount of leverage that you can get. ..... and no, there is nothing wrong with my tensioner.

They make a good timing belt. They make lousy accessory belts. *shrug*
