does anyone happen to know what that means? i took it to autozone and they pluged in the little thinggy that tells you why the service engine soon light is on and it said that "RPM is set higher than the operating conditions" what does that mean? is it just a sensor gone bad? and if i keep driving it will i do more sensor damage? also as i stop the engine trys to keep the rpms at about 1300 and they should actually be 1000 and it makes it a little hard to stop with the engine pulsating and all. thanks

You have a defective idle air control valve (IAC) or the IAC pintle is not functioning properly because it's stuck or dirty. You can try cleaning the area where it mates to the throttle body wth carb cleaner. Also check the IAC electrical connector and make sure it's clean and tight.

ohhh goood answer, but could somone tell me how to get the casing off to get to the throttle body, and a picture would really help me, as you can see im not the MOST experianced at this, but the service engine soon light sure won't cut off unless i try something, thanks...

I just recently had this code appear on my car yesterday. Before this code appeared the car wouldn't stay in Idle unless I pressed on the gas before I started the engine and then it would work fine.
Took it to my mechanic who said that if you get a little dirt on the small wire for the Mass Air Flow device that you will get this reading. He also said that it could be a vacuum leak also. They just cleaned it off and reset the codes and I don't get the code anymore.
He did caution me if I do get the same code again that I should replace the MAF and that part alone is $200, but he won't charge me for the labor and it only takes about 1/2 hour to change out.
If anyone lives near me I highly recommend Car-X Auto Services in Ballwin, MO 63011 and ask for Scott ( you can mention that Ernie recommended him), he is a great guy. I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR THIS PARTICULAR CAR-X!!!
