umm lots of people turbo SPI's what do you think all the turbo's escort sedans from 91-2000 were?
you have to build your own turbo to my knowledge no one actually SELLS a SPI turbo kit. they can make over 300whp

dpending on what you intend to do like, what your goals are forotal hp a supercharger may be better for your needs (I'm a turbo guy myself, but sometimes a supercharger is just better) with a good roots style blower, bot only is it easier to package under the hood, but it dosent screw with the emssions as much as a turbo and you get (with a properly sized blower) lots of low end punch and lots of top end as well, on most 4cyl cars a suercharger is better because they lack the hit off the line, and that a supercharger can provide, and hey are usually cheaper and slightly easier to find, not tosay that they are easy, but not qute as hard, but whatever you choose good luck and have fun smookin Civics with the SPI lol

You don't really have to do it, but rebuilding it with strengthened internals will help it's reliability, and would probably give you a tad bit more power as well.

i have never seen a SC'd SPI, turbo is much better for an SPI motor

they are known to respond well and there is already a lot of literature on how to build a turbo'd SPI.

you have to build one, i dont know of any place that makes SPI kits. a lot of escort sites have been building SPI turbos for years, you can also try Focaljet.com and focusfanatics.com

Building your engine is entirely up to you it really depends on how much power you want to want to have, and the porting (you should also polish at the same time) is a good idea as it helps air flow at high rpm and with work well with forced induction on low boost you could probably get away with it, but you have to mke sure that your injectors are up to the task of pumpin in enough gas (not sure if they are or not, but i'm sure somone here with know what you need to beef up for what boost you wanna use) as for the Turbo vs. Supercharger, it really depends on what you want, if you are going for lots of power and a higher level of boost then most definately go Turbo, but if you just make a few rips to the track and drag strip, and mostly use your car as a daily driver, you would most likely get along best with a good Roots tpe Supercharger, the main reason for this is that they have no spool up time, the power is right there right now, you can get a turbo that spools up really fast, but the quicker that they spool the more pricey they get, (since the development costs are that much higer to provide the turbo with quick spool characteristics and decent flow) the Supercharger on the other hand is always spooled and ready to go. The instant torque will make you much happier on a daily basisas al you gotta do is stomp the gas and go, a roots type isn't the only choice ether but it's what i would chooce on a small 4 banger simply becuse i spend more time driving to work and just running errands and such than i do running at the track and at full throttle, so it just make a far nicer car around town, but good luck man whatever you choose you'll have fun
