I just installed a pair of xeon headlights in my 01 grand am. any reason why one is brighter than the other? i installed the wrong pair before, but they still worked and the left side was still brighter thaan the other. I took them off and switched them and the left is still brighter. They are both 9007 in size

I've got the same thing with my 01 GT. My passengerside was always dimmer, and even after I changed both out for new Sylvania Silverstars, the passengerside was still dimmer. I guess it might have to do with the bulb or the actual harnass itself, maybe. Maybe try splicing on a new socket.

to me it looks like the inside of the assembly has a bit of condensation in it. must have got in when i replaced the bulb. how do i get the condensation that has built up, out of there? blow dryer?

Remove the entire headlight assembly. Then pull out the rubber seal all the way around the headlight, and stick toothpicks in between it and the plastic. It will keep the seal pushed away, and thus let air circulate into the bulb. Let it sit in your house or something for a day or two. This should dry it out sufficiently. Pull out the toothpicks, and reseat/seal the black rubber. That should do the trick.

We have just spent the past hour trying to figure out how to get the speedclips lifted, to get the driver side headlight loose. Does anyone have any suggestions and is it suppose to be incredibly difficult? Any help would be appreciated,

Welcome to the forum. You need to push the clip toward the engine, and then up in order for it to release.

Hi friends... I dried mine out that way too. I used popsicle sticks, because I have a couple boxes of them here for crafting projects and stuff.....
Regarding the one headlight brighter than the other..... I have been sitting here trying to remember where I read info on that problem. It was something to do with the drl's..... but I cannot remember exactly what it was. By any chance, did you pull a fuse to try to disable your drl's ? I could have sworn I read that somewhere......

If I can recall thr exact info, I will definitely reply here again. I'm not sure if I read it here on this forum, or another Grand Am forum, dammit.... but I'll keep on trying to recall it.
Gee... I guess the memory starts to go when you reach 51, lol .....

Good luck..I'll try and remember exactly what I read......

I think some condensation built up inside the headlight assembly making it appear brighter. there seems to be some haze build up inside of it. one of these days that i dont work int he morning imma try to take it off and bring it inside and let it dry out and put it bak in the morning. one more thing. the fog lighs that are located in the rear of the GA. what purpose do they serve? they dont ever come on when my lights are on and or my fog lights at the same time. so what's there point?

They should come on when you put your car into reverse.... They're called rear cornering lights, according to the owners manual.
If yours don't come on in reverse, maybe they are burnt out.
